Found a link sent to me by rellies.

Australians could become 'climate refugees' due to rising global temperatures.
https://7news.com.au/news/climate-ch...ugees-c-648335
Includes:
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has repeatedly said his government would "meet and beat" a 26 per cent global emissions reduction target agreed in Paris, albeit with a caveat that such goals should not come at the cost of jobs and the economy.
Dr Mann, the author of four books including The Madhouse Effect, said Australia could still "easily achieve" the target by shifting towards renewable energy.
"It's possible to grow the economy, create jobs, and preserve the environment at the same time. These are things that all Australians could embrace," he said.
"They just need a government that's willing to act on their behalf rather than on behalf of a handful of coal barons."

Re: Climate Change
I am surprised that Australia suffers from drought.
Many years ago I read a report that an aerial survey had been completed covering the interior of the country. The survey concluded that there was a massive underground lake that could supply water to the population. The water would require treatment before it could be come drinkable.
Surprised no one has tapped into this vast resource.

Re: Climate Change
Funnily enough Victoria very similar happened in Cape Town not too long ago,and there also is an underground Lake which is said to be very large as well. I think by memory they had started a project to Tap this water to feed the Cape Town Basin if need be. Also needs Filtration before use.

Re: Climate Change
On SBS TV news last night a segment of Bangladesh which in some ways was a bit of an eye opener regarding all the Climate issue.
All they want is to be able to live in a similar manner to those of the west, clean water, enough power etc.
It shows that there is not enough electricity supply for all the country, people heat and cook on open fires using candles in the homes for lighting.
A coal shipment was being discharged, it was being done so by a conga line of people all with a wicker basket load of coal on their head, this is the 21st century?
They want to build a number of new clean coal fired power stations to supply all their needs asking the Oz gov for assistance and using coal from there.
Then comes a climate commissioner of sorts from Oz who then said,
'If we do that we will be in breach of our Paris agreement as we will not be reducing emissions".
When then asked by the presenter how do you intend to assist these people then he was unable to answer.
He then made the comment that if we stopped selling coal to China they would then take the lead in reducing emissions globally.
Obviously he has no concept of how the mind of the powers in china work.
In reply to Des regarding the amount of rainfall we get, yes mate we get more than enough but make little or no effort to harvest it.
I wrote to my state and feral members, both Labor, with a suggestion that if we connected one 2500 liter tank, from the gutter, to the toilet system on each suburban property we could save billions of liters for farming etc.
Not even a reply from either.
Des I know from my years in the Uni system that a number of proposals have been put to various govs on the matter, but none have the political will to do anything about it.

Re: Climate Change
For those who have never been to Oz or do nt understand how thing go here this may give some insight.
On this day, Eighty-one years ago (13th January 1939) with temperatures above 110°F (45°C) across Victoria and the state in drought, bushfires consumed 3,700 buildings across the state, 71 lives were lost and 5 towns completely destroyed- never to be rebuilt.
The Royal Commission into ‘’Black Friday’’ concluded;
“There had been no fires to equal these in destructiveness or intensity in the history of settlement in this State, except perhaps the fires of 1851, which, too, came at summer culmination of a long drought”.
‘’At midday, in many places, it was dark as night. Men carrying hurricane lamps, worked to make safe their families and belongings Travellers on the highways were trapped by fires or blazing fallen trees, and perished. Throughout the land there was daytime darkness’.’
“The speed of the fires was appalling. They leaped from mountain peak to mountain peak, or far out into the lower country, lighting the forests 6 or 7 miles in advance of the main fires. Blown by a wind of great force, they roared as they travelled. Balls of crackling fire sped at a great pace in advance of the fires, consuming with a roaring, explosive noise, all that they touched.‘’
‘’On that day it appeared that the whole State was alight.”
NB : Every child in every Australian school should be taught about the events of ‘Black Friday’ 1939 to give them an understanding and appreciation of the extreme danger of the Australian bush. However keeping them ignorant of Australia’s bushfire history makes it far easier to radicalise them and recruit them into the Climate Cult.
As Orwell noted;
“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”
And yet today we are being told by our leaders that this is the NEW NORMAL??? Oh, no, this time is DIFFERENT ---- now we are being brainwashed into believing the GOSPEL of the NEW religion of CLIMATE CHANGE!!
Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it – only this time it has a new and dangerous name, and a global religion behind it. The altar has been built and our gullibility is about to be offered upon it!!

Re: Climate Change
British aid money will no longer be spent on exploiting coal abroad, Boris Johnson will apparently, announce today in a bid to shore up his green credentials.
The Prime Minister will ban the use of UK funding to pay for mining or burning coal in developing nations. The move comes after persistent claims Britain is "outsourcing" climate emissions by reducing its own levels of CO2 while importing goods from abroad which produce high emissions in other countries.

Re: Climate Change
Vernon ,very true mate so much talk from polis and others with very little change.
Most will only pay lip service as where there is money that will set the scene for all that happens.
The IMF made a statement today saying, 'all nations govs should but out all the coal fired power stations across the globe'!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you se China, India, Indonesia and a few others doing that??
As a good friend of mine who worked at the weather department for almost 35 years tells it, 'the inversion layer is the main cause of any increased heat in the atmosphere".
But hey, never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Re: Climate Change
The starkly opposed visions of US President Donald Trump and Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg on climate change will clash in Davos on Tuesday as the World Economic Forum tries to face up to the perils of global warming on its 50th meeting.
The four-day gathering of the world's top political and business leaders in the Swiss Alps gets under way seeking to meet head-on the dangers to both the environment and economy from the heating of the planet.
Thunberg will also attend a meeting at the forum, where she is expected to underline the message that has inspired millions around the world -- that governments are failing to wake up to the reality of climate change.
The forum's own Global Risks report published last week warned that "climate change is striking harder and more rapidly than many expected" with global temperatures on track to increase by at least three degrees Celsius (5.4 degrees Fahrenheit) towards the end of the century.
Best wait and see what is said next by the world leaders.
Fingers crossed.

Re: Climate Change
On BBC News, the green shoots of recovery. Showed places that had been ravaged by the fire, new growth starting to appear both on burnt trees and on the land.
Good news.
