SS Empire Tide

I am trying to find out if my father served on the SS Empire Tide during 1942.His name was Eric Herbert Knight and was born in Chatham in 1920 and died in 1977.
There was an Eric Herbert Knight who served on that vessel but I cant find out anywhere if it was definitely him.The service number showing is CLDX4990.I'm hoping someone can help me.

Campaign Medals: War Medal 1939-1945
As with most Armed Forces Serving Personnel during the conflict of World War Two, Eric Herbert Knight was entitled to the War Medal 1939-1945. This medal was awarded to all full time service personnel who had completed 28 days service between 3rd September 1939 and the 2nd September 1945. Eligible personnel who had been “Mentioned In Despatches” during the War were entitled to wear a bronze oak leaf emblem on the ribbon. Those eligible for a campaign star, yet who had their service cut short by death, wounds or capture by the enemy, still qualified for this medal.

Eric Herbert Knight was awarded the 1939-45 Star for operational Service in the Second World War between 3rd September 1939, and 2nd September 1945.

Did you have any relations out here in WA by the surname knight. Have known two blokes with that surname one is now dead and the other still alive as far as I know. They were not related to each other. The one who hopefully still alive was at one time either head warden or governor of the old Fremantle prison. Both today would have been in their 80s. The other who died about 10 years ago was in the same order as myself where the formal manner of addressing someone was brother knight so and so. I used to have a bit giggle when had to address him as Bro Knight Knight , sounded like you were closing the bedroom door. Regards hope you are successful in your quest. JS

On reading the wording on the certificate you posted it seems that he wasn't the right Eric Herbert Knight as I was born in 1950.Unless I have read it wrong.That was the only reference to that name I could find.
Sorry to ask this but would there be any record of who the certificate was sent to?Also would the record show where he was born.

Not as far as I know,but if you know if they came from the Medway Towns it could be possible.My father was one of 19 children(they never had hobbies in those days).I might have come to a crashing halt after docs post but i'll keep trying.
