Good Times!!
Hi Terry
Also dont know of any names you mention on those Port Boats, but yes the times were good and there will never be another time like those years at Sea!
I know that there were plenty of good chaps and (Queens) on the Castle Boats, and many a good party was had with them! Funnily enough never had any trouble either, they seemed to keep to themselves most times, but were a great deal of fun!
Kept the Lads entertained OK!
YES THEM WERE THE DAYS MATE!
Cheers
Wonder if anyone recognises someone here!??

District 6, what a wonderful place? So many stories came out of there as did a few 'odd' people, but not considered the sort of place any self respecting seaman would venture into. But then again...............................

RE: Stirling Ladies.
Hi Vernon. I bought this photo from a Polish chap who was a sort of unofficial crew photographer on the Stirling Castle. The girls were getting ready for Sods Opera night nearing Capetown, trip dates were
4th-Oct-1962 - 16th-Nov-1962 . A great night too. On a sadder note a young chap was attacked by a shark and killed after a DBS jumped over the side, a boat was lowered but he kept swimming away from it and Captain shouted for a volunteer to go in after him and the rest is history. I believe a S African chap went in after him and got him into the boat but his injuries were so severe and he couldn't be saved. It was said that S African chap was awarded a gold watch by Southampton council for his efforts. DBS was put in sick bay aft and guarded as plenty of chaps wanted to vent their feelings. I read the letter from his mum thanking everybody for their efforts. The lad was first trip deep sea having been fishing and was also an only child. Ken @ Tilbury.
