Re: UK National Grid
No, we did not turn our back on the country, as world travelers we just chose to rest in a different one.
Being in Oz does not mean we no longer think of UK, some of us still take trips there.
But yes Oz does not use nuclear power, but not all are opposed to it.
Yes the Greens and the doom sayers are but they are in the minority.
More are now waking up to the concept of nuclear power.
WE sell uranium, we take back the waste and bury it in the outback, but we will within a few short years begin to use it.
Coal and gas we export to China, India and any one who wants it, we are not concerned as to who it is or how they use it.
It is an export and as such revenue for the country.

Happy daze John in Oz.

As far as I am concerned John, he nailed his colours to the mast a while ago and he's been a closed book ever since, my last post was simply to put the Swastika slur to bed. Cheers

Can’t even remember that one, must have had him switched off at the time. When you see good people leave the site and these drolls or whatever their title kept on ,makes one think. Easy to see how some of these perverts get control of kids minds. Ah well another day , the suns shining at least . Cheers JS

Re: UK National Grid
What do you mean, the suns shining??
Obviously you have never been to Melbourne, four seasons in one day, sometime sin one hour. LOL
But in Germany the 'Greens' yes them have agreed that the Nuclear power stations must be kept going to ensure there is enough power for all.
Meanwhile in China there is a big push to build more coal fired power stations as last year during the winter some regions did not have enough pwoer.

Re: UK National Grid
What ever happened to the wonderful world of smokeless fuel I.e. smokeless coal. We used to use it in uk before went on to gas central heating which was cheaper, and of course easier to use. JS

Re: UK National Grid
Things look bad for UK this winter.
Between 1600 hours and 1900 hours there will be power cuts during January through March, so buy your candles now before the price goes up.
Then beware, wearing a coat, scarf, hat or gloves whilst driving may impead your ability to control the vehicle so a GBP5000 fine may be imposed.
Gov has to raise revenue somehow.
Nop worries for people such as I, shorts, tee shirts and sliders so no worries there mate.
But she said she is going no where, OMG, so no Christmas present for the nation!!!!!

Re: UK National Grid
Sounds just like the war years John, “ put that light out” the stereotyped shout from the ARP warden. One thing then the meter box got starved. More pennies for the Batter at the chippie. JS
As regards the post on fast foods there is one thing I can’t eat even today and that is potted meat , during the war it was mostly gelatine and in 1950 when working for a butcher after school and had to make it, was still full of gelatine , used to make me gag at times, and yet some people love it . Cheers JS
