    Default NZSC Association

In addition to other websites listed by Ian Walsh and others, you may be interested in this one for NZS/FSN folk. I doesn't have a huge membership and could do with some more forum input.

    John....

I have set up a new forum for Associations and Maritime Groups to which I have added the New Zealand Shipping Company Association.

The new forum is near the bottom under Link Development.

    Hi John,
I,ve just viewed the website link you gave,

Was so pleased to see a photo of a ship i served on.... The "Wild Fulmar", I sailed on her in 1982 as 2nd cook/baker, also onboard was my brother who was 4th Engineer Officer,
We were the first British ship to sail up the River Plate after the end of the Falklands war, on our way to Montevedio,
She was a great ship, Fast, sleek & good for the crew.
A couple of memories I have...........

I joined her in Lagos , Nigeria, enlightening experience with armed guards on the gangway

and another memory was when we came out of dry dock in Malta........as said I was the 2nd Cook, working away in the galley preparing the first main meal onboard since dry dock.....we get into open sea then the next thing the ship went hard a starbd then hard a port.....obviously testing the steering gear.....guess who the bridge forgot to tell.....The galley dinner was ruined, Chief Cook basically said B@ll@cks....dinner was then a BBQ on deck

My father served on lots of NZ ships, will keep popping onto the website, thanks for the link.
    cheers

Hi Tommy, Good to hear of your experiences in the galley - the most important department on any ship! I guess the bridge crowd regretted not informing you of the manoevres after they lost their meal! Your seagoing time was a bit after my time as I sailed as a sparks in the 60s - best years of my life though I reckon.
    Cheers
