I've just been reading the posts in this thread. It's heart-rending. My dad was Bill Sherlock who died on 30 September 1979 in Cumbria. He was a skipper with James Fisher & Sons of Barrow. Eric Carvill who was a great friend of my dad came to his funeral, and was so soon after drowned, as well as his wife Doris. I remember them both so well, and feeling so absolutely chilled at the news of their deaths, so soon after that of my dad. As children, my sister and I, we visited the Pool Fisher. I remember meeting with some of the sons of Eric and Doris. I so hope that they're okay. Also all the devasted families of those who lost their lives when the Pool Fisher sank, I send my heartfelt condolences. Time doesn't much seem to heal the passing of those we loved, but I can remember them as they were, wonderful people.
