A young man was on the other day asking how could he get away to sea,he had some training I think withP&O.I dont know what thread it was on so I am posting on here hope'ing he or somebody on here will read it and pass this information on.
I've just been for a pint (or two) and met up with a mate of mine who is with the RFA,he tells me that they are still recruiting. The phone number he gave me is 02392725923,if I've got that wrong the H.O.is Whale Island I beleive so I'm sure if you google RFA you will find the office.
Regards.

Ahoy there!
I Just popped in to say hello.
Looking for a non contriversial site, where I can have a quiet time just pottering around, and adding my bit now and again.
I worked on several passenger boats out of Southampton in the mid sixties, then went to BP as a GP1 for ten years. I now work as a crewperson on a Solent ferry, but am actually off on long term sick at the moment with COPD. (Too many Duty Frees over the years I suppose)
A big gap between my two sea going careers, but the sea has always been my first love, workwise

Hi Richard, welcome to the site.
I notice you have COPD, it is widespread in the marine industry, especially if you worked in tankers.
Have you asked you medical people if there may be an industrial cause for your condition.
Industrial injury is a buzz word and it buzzes with ££££ signs.
regards
