Oh such good Memories of that ols Penny Ferry!
Used it very often , and as Kids even more so, was a real popular Ferry in the days !
Dont know where you managed to get the Pics but are really nostalgic! Only one i have and posted at #4 on site is the one showing the Ferry in Larger Scene!
Thanks

There we were, me and my mate getting on the bus in Sunderland to go to East Bolden for the night, had accommodation there working by on a new tanker.
The bus conductor told us to get upstairs at the back of the bus and stay quiet.
We stopped outside the rope factory and the buys filled with females, well most looked like such, and we soon found out why we had to sit at the back.
I never knew it was possible to do some of the things they did with guys getting their leg over.
Language which increased my vocabulary in ways maybe better not to.
Not the sort of females you would want to meet in a dark alleyway at night.
We got off the bus in one piece.
where was the rope factory john......was it in sunderland ......lived in east boldon one time cant remember a rope factory there ....but stand to be corrected......regards cappy

Just off Topic a wee bit! :violent1: LOL
However must just tell you when i was Conductor on the Tramways Years agao in Johannesburg, the one line especially called the Fordsburg Dip a very Short Run ,was always so busy that i never did go upstairs , i took all the Downstairs Fares as fast as i could, and the Ran back and stood at the Bottom of the Staircase and collected the fares as the People piled off , made things easy, in fact made quite a few Bob extra in my Sky Rocket, as so many just pusehed the fare into my hans and jumped off in haste to get to work! LOL
Oh Happy Days!!

good evening,
strange as it may seem i buy my mooring lines and various fittings from Houghton Le Spring newcastle,
i have even had to resort to buying bay oil to refill my compass, as there are no retailers or suppliers except yacht chandlers whom want to charge the earth,
