Re: Mersey Docks & Harbour Board
We as in this little estate i live on, Have had meetings with peel Holdings and to be honest there representative's gave us nothing that we already new. They own a lot of land in and around this area and personally i never take any notice to Chinese whispers but there is a lot of land never been built on that i am sure the council would have acquired for much needed social housing, Then there's talk of the seaforth triangle and supposedly peel holdings own most of. Yet thus far we cant get a clear answer on what there intentions are, They can now accommodate the bigger Containers from these massive container ships are they looking to expand there storage terminal know one knows and they are keeping a lot of there plans very close to there chest. The dual carriage way coming down from the M6 threw Seaforth and then the Freeport has been widened to take these monsters container trucks things are changing all the time but very slowly, But still all guess work at there eventual target or outcome only time will tell, And to be honest there turnover and forecast turnover is looking very good indeed if P@O Where to pull out of Liverpool tomorrow it wouldn't bother them to them its business as usual. Regards all Terry.

Re: Mersey Docks & Harbour Board
Terry, accountants only like to see figures rising. I blame them for lots of insensitive decisions in all areas of business and other things (like healthcare spending).
As my old boss once told me, "they should only be there to keep the score, not play the game". At the time he was referring to the new company managing director (accountant) who was issuing ludicrous instructions on how to do the job to technically expert and competent employees who had been doing the job perfectly well.

Re: Mersey Docks & Harbour Board
Agree Tony, As long as the books look healthy and keep rising into the black, They only consider there own interests to hell with P@O And local residents lives being disrupted, They go home to there ivory towers and there profit margins increase. I read a post the other day on this or another thread about dock workers parking there cars to near the job so to speak, 65 years ago right into the early 70s when my old man was a Liverpool docker, Once you entered the docks here or over in Birkenhead you wouldn't find a car and certainly none belonging to a docker they couldn't afford to buy one let alone keep one on the road. I remember him many mornings on his pushbike trekking from Seaforth threw the Mersey tunnel and going onto Bidston dock on many occasion in all weathers. If they refused they never ate at the weekend. Todays dockers working twist locks on containers don't know there born. Regards mate Terry.
