Right down through the centre of Spain which a lot of itis not much more than a desert for many kilometers you will pass Solar panel farms (is that correct description) and also literally thousands of wind turbines.
Also just off the North Wales and Liverpool bay there are hundreds of wind turbines.

The plan to build a barrage across the river Mersey which was dropped in 2011 is being revisited again. Plan was to install generating turbines. Peel holdings initially were to carryout the project but said it would not be profitable enough!!!Dong Energy are now looking at the project again, more about Dong Energy further down in the post.

Were I have my UK home is right on the shore at Hoylake and from my front window I can see the Burbo Bank wind farm and also the one off the North Wales Coast. Massive expansion of Burbo Bank offshore wind farm given approval | Wirral Globe
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/busine...e-wind-9476670. To be honest they don't bother me not even when I was living there full time. What the local fishermen do complain about though is it is killing what little fishing industry there was in the area as there are exclusion zones around a lot of the off shore areas now. One thing I did find interesting about the decision concerning the extension of the Burbo bank farm is that the government that Local area councils basically will do as there told. A lot of investment in renewables but why not invest more in harnessing the power of the sea/tides. Surely the Mersey is an ideal river for tidal power especially were the river narrows and seeing as it has a tidal range of between 4&10metres. Would appear profit is more important than trying to improve the environment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peel_Group Peel Holdings initially looked at the Barrage project in 2011 but walked away from it in 2011 as they thought there was not enough profit in it. Funny how Peel Holdings in 2015 became one of the Governments partners in the so called Northern Power House favoured companies.

It is interesting to note that the company DONG Energy who owns the Burbo Bank wind farm is a Danish company, it has just sold a 50% share in the Burbo Bank wind farm & proposed extension to a Danish pension fund PKA (sounds like a terrorist group) which in turn is owned by LEGO another Danish company. I wonder when the Crown Jewels will be sold off next.

Why can the UK not get on with it and do these projects themselves. Various governments over the years have asset stripped the UK and anytime a lot of these foreign owned companies feel like turning the lights out they will do it and put pressure on the government to allow them to increase energy costs.

Lew I met a guy in the mission one sunday and he was in charge of the boat that took the technicians out to the turbines you are talking about to do whatever it is they do.A very interesting conversation, from a distance you don't realize just how big they are,so big in fact that they have an electric elevator inside,no climbing a ladder.

Lewis, from yesterday's DM, UK wind farms are paid more in subsidies than they gain from the energy that that the produce.
The UK subsidies green energy to the sum of ,£5.6b a year.
    Vic
Ps a lot of these wind turbines have a diesel donkey engine installed. The engine powers the turbine when there is no wind in order to lubricate the bearings.

The number of times it has been discussed about tidal turbines here on the Solent, ideal between hurst castle and the Island, narrows right down and ideal for it. With the intention of the country going over to all electric cars plus increasing demand in other areas etc we are going to need to generate as much electricity as possible, and those tidal projects will have to be looked at again in the future, kt

Jim the height of the new ones are said to be 770 feet to the top of the wing tip. Not sure what the flight path is into John Lennon Airport but certainly an area they will need to be giving a wide berth I would think.

I wonder if the people of Chernobyl or Fukushima would be of that opinion. Also think of the legacy that even our generation will leave behind with radioactive waste. I may be wrong here but I think the NW of England has one of the highest rates of Cancer those who are now in their 60's and a lot of that can be pointed at the Windscale accident of 1957. How do you solve a PR problem for a nuclear plant ??? simple change it's name, call it Sellafield.

My post is my opinion as others have their views.

you have two choices , fossil fuel or fission , my real world choice would be clean the exhaust , but the Greens won't even talk about that so which choice do we have
