National Grid shows demand at 34gw. of which 0.02gw is supplied b wind power.
So much for green energy, eat more beans lads.(lol).

Now if there was just some way of harnessing Rain power the amount we have had here and I am sure the UK have had a long cold and very wet winter as well.
There is Scottish Power have done it for years it's called hydroelectric you collect the rain in the loch let it out through a water turbine and take the electric power of the turbine alternatorQuote:

The subsidies to the wind and solar industries is enormous and if the public knew the facts would I am sure question it all.
But the GREENS of course can often call the tune as their vote is required to get other bills through the parliament. Sooner they are no more the better.
Any form of 'renewable' energy is reliant of the weather which as we all know is not constant.
We have solar panels, made in Germany, but I know the efficientcy varies during the year depend in the position of the sun.
Do you have any Solar panels in UK?
John, we have Solar Farms in the UK, as well as individual householders and factories, a lot of our road signs are illuminated by solar panels fixed to the top, and bye the way, we also have motor cars, water closets, showers and paved roads, we have moved on!Quote:

Is the tidal rise and fall on the Thames not one of the highest in the world 2nd only to the bay of Fundy ? Countries are spending billions on wind farms. Surely it would be better to invest more in Tidal power let's face it the tide comes in and out twice a day and in the channel 4 times a day. Big Oil again calling the tune I wonder ???
Maybe he's right and I got it wrong, but having traversed the Channel so many times in my coasting days, I don't remember the tide going in and out 4 times a day, the only place I'm aware of was Southampton water due to a land mass phenomenon which has 4 high waters per day. When navigating the Channel on an 8 knotter you have to be aware of the tides, 4 floods or 4 Ebbs would have been a bonus depending whether or not you're heading East or WestQuote:
