Looks like all she needs is a good washdown,so get off your backside Lewis get down below and put water on deck, she's gone from fully loaded to 'in ballast' by probably the most unusual manner

One way to get a de-rat certificate, surely though with the heat she has to be structurally weakened???

Even though the has been a +ve increase in BDI in the past month or so these supramax vessels are not doing anything like their panamax and Cape size vessels. Whatever they paid of this ship in 2012 I think they will be thinking CTL.

Think I agree, depending on how well maintained she has been aft of the cargo area. Crop and weld on a new hull forward of the bridge area. Bibby's will take the payout I think, Sir Michael is not his Dad. lol.
Basing this on the time they built the LPG carrier Oxfordshire and she had no flasks on deck (anyone who knows the LPG trade will know what I mean) I joined Oxfordshire from the Lincolnshire.
We were changing grades at the time I joined.
The Lincolnshire had 3 flasks on deck forward.
The Idea was that if changing grades you had the potential of gassing up with say Propane (1) (2) Butane(3) Amonia.
The new Oxfordshire had I am sure no Flasks on deck as built.
I joking said in the bar on the Oxfordshire, as the old Lincolnshire is due to be scrapped (PR/recycled) why not utilise one of her flasks. These things are like bomb casings not made out of baking foil.
The centre flask was the biggest and at 135 cubic metres would have been handy to gas up a tank?
Well feck me , Lincolnshire goes into her last dry docking and they remove the big boy flask, and bang her onto the new Oxfordshire. This was during her Gaurantee dry docking period.
Not that I am pissed about this or maybe the same guy had the same idea. I saw a photo of the oldman( Oxfordshire Mike Reev-s) getting awarded a cheque for his suggestion about the very same project. I sailed with Mike again and he did say, I will clear your bar tab for a month, checky bugger.
