Re: More memories
Gilly I will drink Cuba Libres until the cows come home and still walk a straight line. Ask me to drink 3 or 4 pints and you have no chance. A couple of beers and then onto the Bacardi. Its the only drink that I know where I am at whereas Scotch and Gin are the unknown quantum so to speak.

John

#14, John oy vey, I have never had Rum & coke..... Recently tried Edinburgh Gin. Oh my word is is delicious. Daughter No 2 aghast that I drank the sample given neat. She said I should dilute!
I beg to differ. Tried Bombay Sapphire neat, but way too dry and I find tonic water rank. So
bowing to my sweet tooth have purchased "Edinburgh Raspberry Gin.

Edinburgh Gin - Raspberry - Handmade Small Batch Production 50cl Bottle - TheDrinkShop.com Cached
I am normally a wine drinker it is a excellent servant but a devil of a master. Something to ponder over. Have read recently Lidl apparently sell a decent gin and when tested shall report back when I find said link. Hubby will be amused that I have not wasted our time apart!

Re: More memories
Hi Marian,
There is a whisky shop in Inveraray that sells a Gin that is distilled in Paisley. I have never tasted it but have it on good authority that the drink is very moorish. The same distillery does a Vodka, called Valt, which is really something. Its a bit pricey though at £27 a bottle. I can not remember the name of the Gin but will check it out next time I am around there.
Regards
John

Re: More memories
You could well be right there Vernon. Not being a Gin drinker I honestly can't remember the name. Catherines daughter is a team leader in the Edinburgh Duty Free at the Airport, I will ask her tomorrow what the name is. Will let you know and you too Marion.

Re: More memories
Brian at our age EVERYTHING is allowed (not withstanding medical conditions). We have got this far, survived countless piss ups all over the world, put our lives in mortal danger, bagged off all over the planet, worked our arses off, got **** on from a great height by our grateful employers etc etc etc. We are still here and as I have said before the last of our once great seagoing nation. Something I am immensely proud of. So why not enjoy your favourite tipple. I bet Lou would be able to answer that one as he endured more than any of us. Would todays youth be able to handle what was dished out to us? the answer is a resounding NO! Have another tot and enjoy!

John

Yes Vern that will be the one John is thinking of I think Marian will confirm, Even the Russians cant get enough of it.
Gilt Gin is made by the same Scottish company which makes the famous Valt Vodka. It's based on single malt spirit, which is distilled five times from nothing but malted barley. Terry.
