John, I too was aboard 2 Everard ships Superiority, and Serenity, Both sailed through the Pentland Firth at this time of year, One of the most dangerous stretches of ocean when it gets angry in the world and of course with the freezing weather conditions its not looking good for her crew. Lets hope for a miracle lord knows they will need it Terry.

Re: ship capsized
Hi All.
Sailed through the Pentland Firth twice both times in winter if I ever got back to sea would skin out before doing that again. Wasn't there a rescue of a Spanish fishing boat there before Xmas?
Cheers Des

John, The last news report and pictures I seen on her she was still watertight with her fo'c'sle head above the water line. As I understand it she never sent out a distress signal she must have turned over very quickly. Any of her crew that survived that would not have lasted very long in the freezing water conditions. One thing I remember very well aboard one of those Everade ships, Was all hands which must have only been about 8 or 10 being called up to the bridge with our lifejackets the skipper sat at the wheel reciting prayers from the bible, I think if you founder in bad weather up there you would have to be plucked from the sea very quickly to stand any chance of survival very sad Terry.

Re: ship capsized
See she has a bowthruster so is probably reasonably modern vessel. JS
