I still cannot figure out , how much Scientific Research can you carry out on the dead body of a Whale.
Most of it is Blubber on a Skeleton frame with the usual Internals.
So why do the Japs need to kill hundreds for research, unless it is for researching Menus and Japanese TV Chefs.
I saw many many Whales in the Antarctic ocean, magnificent creatures, I also swam with the Whales on Ningaloo Reef off Western Australia. A wonderful experience, Then some berstered wants to Kill them.
    Cheers
    Brian.

Perhaps, if Japan were to share the results of their research with the rest of the world, people might be less cynical. Apart from the Japanese, does anyone know what their ongoing study has achieved thus far? I'm bluddy sure I don't. Until they disclose their findings, the rest of the world will continue to question how it is such indiscriminate slaughter can be of any real benefit to the furtherance of science. In truth, I think most recognise it for what it is, an attempt to deceive the world in order to protect and nurture the peculiar (albeit traditional) food preference of a very small minority. Their outrageous claims of noble purpose are an insult to us all.

Think it is a loophole in whatever agreement exists between the powers that drew up the agreement. Think everyone realizes this, including the japanese. By the same token as far as Greenpeace are concerned The cow is sacred to certain sections of the hindu religion, and the pig a no no with certain other religions, they also are animals. Why no bar on the slaughter of such. Believe Norway and other ethnic people in the far north kill whales and other sea mammals which no one seems to be aware of. Until not so long back the UK was one of the biggest slaughterer of whales, until these agreements were drawn up. Who signed up for them wouldnt have a clue. However everyone assumes that every Nation signed up. There are apart from whale hunting, other nations who are not signed up members of the UN, and in their views dont have to adhere to laws made outside their communitys. Such as all the different Rebel forces in Africa using the name of religion in their quest for power and the subjucation of their own people. We are still living in Biblical times in certain areas of the world. JS
