Which Fremantle Doctor are you talking about Cappy the Shipping Doctor just off the High street. (made me start taken Blood Pressure Tablets) or the westerly breeze we get most nights just before sun down. If it was the shipping doctor he expected everyone to be as fit as an astronaut and most dodged him and went privately. Cheers John S.

I am pleased to say that climate change has had no effect on the Fremantle Doctor well known in summeer for the cooling winds in the evening. The greens should be approached and asked if they know why this is so. JS

bloody blood pressure i dont know when that all started .......stub your toe and your on blood pressure tablets .....they expect all to be the same as when we were 20 ...after the tablets sure as day they put you on statins......the fremantle doctor mucho biento...... a good maritime museum in freemantle ...getting warmer here now john you getting cooler down there......of for a beer shortly with the old port line engineer lives in the next village

Shivering here Cappy only 32 at 1830 hrs. started a beer about 3 hours ago, seems cant get to the bottom of the glass, someone must keep filling it up. Cheers John S.

Just the Ferries for the touristas cruising up and down the Swan.
Had a couple of beers in that pub and a a couple of lunches. Paid by debit card.
I had something to query on my statement, so I went to the bank yesterday. the young lady at the desk said. "Thats an interesting place, `The Lucky Shag`, I did hear that brothels were legal in parts of Australia."
I said " NO! its just a name of a Pub. I had the wife with me". I dont think she believed me.

Maybe John in Oz is referring crossing the harbour in Fremantle to the other side. Depending how far back he is going, beleive the coaling and later the bunkering may have been on the North Side of the harbour ( Fremantle) One of the first pubs in those days would have been the P and O. Further up the street was a pub forget its name ( these pubs are still there)Square bar one side was deck the other stewards the other engine room. The fourth I assume was for normal people. The P and O up until about 2001, the Guild the Deck officers union used to have its union meetings every 4 weeks or so and if at home were obliged to go. The seamans union and the Engineers must have had meetings in other pubs, never did find out. Later some of the unions used the Missions to Seamen ( Flying Angel ) for their meetings. Cheers JS

you can still go up the Amazon, many cruise ships go up there to Manaus, all the year round. a little better than Yemen and Ethiopia
There are Hotels on Easter Island, it has a population of around 5,000 and many touristas who fly in.
I passed by the Airport and saw planes From Tahiti-Nui Airlines and Chileano Airlines from Santiago.
There was a big crowd of Chinese Touristas, around 100 at the entrance to the National Park. so they must be flying in. The Rapa people who are Polynesian are not too happy as the revenues and taxes go back to Chile.They do not have much say about their own island.
