You could also put it alongside the Red Ensign with the Maple Leaf on it the old Canadian flag if your father was on Canadian ships. Cheers John S.
Thanks John. Dad sailed mainly with Blue Star Lines, although he did a brief stint on the Beaverlake for 3 months in 1954. I probably should include a Maple Leaf though, so no one will ask me if I'm American!
Cheers,
Jacyn
all good suggestions jaclyn, but a small red duster with the MN badge in the fly and a blue star line flag plus the original canadian flag might get a few people asking about your interests.
Brilliant Alf but I think the MN badge might be a tough one for me to re-create. If I could buy one, now that would be nice to have. Certainly would be a great topic for discussion...
Where can I buy one? Sizable enough to draw attention to allow response.
Richard
Jacyn email info@merchant-mariners.co.uk they have numerous items for sail, Silver lapel badge £6.50, Red Ensign lapel pin £3.00, Blazer badge £23.95, there is a standing £3.00 per parcel for overseas postage (may get them cheaper on e-bay). Also look up 'Flags and Bunting' on Google or Amazon you may be able to buy a small Red Ensign to stitch to your bag, good hunting
Whoops should be 'sale' and not 'sail' (getting old!!)
Jaclyn if you can get a picture of an MN badge, trace it and transfer it to your bag. if you have a t-shirt shop handy they will do it for you
Another good idea, Alf. Thanks! I shall give it a try.
