Red Ensign

Also have Red Ensign on front and rear of car, and silver badge on my suit on Saturday nights (Dancing night) and at other times. Got to keep the flag flying and the questions coming.

Heres a thought
When you purchase a new car in the U.K. the number plates have the EU flag (spit, spit) on the plates before the numbers, unless you say you do not want it.
Now I do not know the rules but I am pretty sure that you could have the Red Ensign placed on your number plates so my idea is that all ex. and serving MN guys who own a car, have the Red Ensign placed on their number plates.

john. the idea is good but like the name "british" when anyone enters this country as an immigrant they are immediatly "british". the same with the red duster, anyone can fly it.so i suggest you use the MNbadge instead. you can always get a red duster sticker for your windscreen.

I always refer to my self as English on any official forms ......I guess irish scots and welsh do the same

Same here Alf. My father in law was born in the (British Crown) Colony of Queensland about 1890. Born here we were all British Subjects when I was younger. A bit confusing - as evidenced in my Australian Passport issued in Australia House London in 1950 and the British Passport Australia issued in Canberra in 1965.
By the way, thanks Alf, I think the MN sticker on my car came from you via Vernon.

#14.........Auch Cappy, On official forms I state with pride that I am British first and foremost!!!... Since I have Gt Grandmother's from Newcastle, Ireland [North] Glasgow & Campbeltown. Very proud also to state Scotland as the land of my birth. Don't appear to have any Welsh in me....... Don't tell the Captain but there's French blood too!

As mentioned by Richard Q., I also display the M.N. sticker in the bottom (kerbside) corner of my car's windshield. It, too, came to me courtesy of a kind gesture by Alf and Doc Vernon. Although rather naughty, I sometimes fly the red ensign from the yard of my small motor-cruiser whilst flying a slightly larger Oz blue ensign aft. Thus far, it hasn't upset anyone, which is probably just as well for all concerned.:D

Question lads:

For my QM2 trip to the UK this summer, I am making a travel bag, simple white canvas, but wanted to embellish it in some way. It came to me the other day to make a Red Ensign for it in tribute to my father and his family. Do you think this would be acceptable?
