brian i worked on the seaforth terminal first on the earth movers then for tarmac i have walked on the bottom of the dock{empty } 92ft deep 52.000.000 sq yards came out of the hole the locks were made for the ACL boats john howard was the main contractor by the way graham page was the local mp he just happend to be on the board of john howard{funny that you think} and it gave good work to local workers but we will be flooded by eu labour and when the job is finished what happens then scousers will be a thing in the history of our great city things must be sorted before the first brick is laid or hole dug?just my view.jp

Yes John Howard was the main contractor they took over the big house behind me for their offices. The Italian company ICOS diaphragm wall specialist had a lot of Italian workers here and Dick Hampton were the company with the big earth movers. There was plenty of work for the local lads but my local was still full every night with Irish,Italians.Scots and many more guys from out of town.Funny enough nobody complained of people taking our jobs because there was plenty of work around to keep all hands employed and in fact the out of town guys were made to feel at home.

Hi shipmates, The port of london is doing the same thing on the Thames 30 miles downstream {A super port} that can take the biggest ships backed by Chinese money, and are building a vast mega city for all the new Chinese people who will live here.
