Sinkapoops Looks and sounds just as fantastic as ever Brian,well, post-1970's I mean !
I only got to know Singapore,HK,Taiwan and Japan from the 70's till 1990,about 15 years. Of course ,I didn't just frequent the 'usual' haunts either!.but made sure I took time out to acquaint myself with the cultural sights of those countries(,starting first trip with a 2 week drydock in Osaka during Expo 70,) ,and some of their peoples.On the whole,a pleasant experience...... but,nevertheless,no desire to return to any particular place,either there or anywhere else in the world..I love where I am.

Gulliver i have heard it called by many names but never as you describe it, cultural sights indeed. Some of those sights were anything but cultural!!

Hi Stewart,
I went to the hree ports you mentioned plus many more off the beaten track thanks to Shell Tankers.Going to the turn around bit of the Congo River is one that will never be foregotten.
If I had stayed in the MN Iwould have been made redundent the same time as everybody in NZ.doingthe same kind of work.Hard to say,impossible in fact what was was the best choice,to late to worry now,just suck up on it.

Well,it was just about the end of the Beatles era,John,but (really) 42 years on I still have a full head of hair,albeit a bit greyer.Attachment 10822I do now like to keep it as a crew cut, being lucky that I can choose to be either follically-blessed...or a slaphead,according to whim.
