t wonders we had in the days of little back then.
Used some very odd items to relieve pain or other symptoms.

Senna pods soaked overnight to bring bowel relief, olive oil in the ear to relieve ear ache.
Soap off cuts in a metal case to shake in the washing up bowl to make soap suds, mending holes in socks with wool, maybe that is why I do not wear them now.

There must be hundreds of similar stories out there, this is just one of them

Been having had a lot of pain lately, went to the Docs.

You have Gout!!! never had Gout in my life, but bloody painful. Got up one morning earlier in the week to my toe looking like this.

He reviewed the Meds I am on for various health problems, likely some have led to my kidneys not dealing well and removing Uric acid.
Looks as if I will be doing nothing but drinking more water than I do. I take diuretic meds to stop the build up of fliuds. It is certainly is a balancing act to get the meds sorted out.
I already have to plan my days out so I know were I can find a loo!!!
Local councils here on Wirral have closed most of the public WC's to save money. Looks as if I will have to get a horse and cart or, find a police man with a cloak so I can have a wee in the street

    sore as F--k.jpg

Apparently if I have a horse and cart I cannot leave it unattended, so this is my new mode of transport. Think I will stop outside the councils offices and have a protest pee, might make tem open the public Toilets again.
Me having a discreet wee at the back of me new horse & cart.

I once sailed with a fireman who told me he had the same problem in one of the London Boroughs, only he was bursting for a dump and all the conveniences were closed and unfortunately ended up with a load in his pants.
He told me he packed the whole lot in a shoe box and sent it to the council with a note of complaint.

It was soot n salt when I was a kid for cleaning your teeth.
I had gout a few years back and was advised to take a nip of cherry juice every day, never had it since, only when I didn't take it for a few weeks once.

#21 Can one still buy Beecham Powders in the uk. They we’re supposed to be mixed with water. My old man swore by them ,however he dispensed with the water , opened the sachet and just pored the powder down his neck , think he took them for a bad head after his usual 8 pints at the local between 2030 and 2230 per session when he was allowed out. Hi John
I believe the less pills one takes the better off you are, how many times have you heard of a person saying the Dr has changed my pills again, hoping to hit the right one, remember the Dr s only as good as the pharmaceutical Companies let him, the number of pills I have been offered and refused has kept me healthy as I can be.
