Re: Covid Vacs
Des, the biggest problem for NSW is the concentration of ethnic in western Sydney.
They will not take nay notice of regulations no matter what.
Think you will find the 5 klm, like ours still allows those who live too far away freedom to travel to get where they must.
But Lewis, don't shoot the messenger, I am just reporting not condoning.
WE now will have, care of the I slam ic nuts in Afghanistan thousands of the coming here to live.
What problems will they bring?

Re: Covid Vacs
Well, here on the Isle of Wight, we are down by the head with holiday makers, and the last seven days have had over 500 positive, so don't know where we go from here, at present no restrictions anywhere, kt

Re: Covid Vacs
But Keith were there any deaths?
500 is not a lot compared with some places.
Many are now saying the pandemic is only for the unvaccinated.
Get the shot and you will be fine, from what I hear it is mainly the younger ones who have not had it.
Universities here are considering making it mandatory

Re: Covid Vacs
That is true John, but according to the figures there 39 people in the hospital for covid, thats 39 beds in our one and only hospital. Again according to the gov figures, in the last 3 weeks it has risen 150%, and we are now above the national average, thats for a little island 21 miles x 12miles, kt

Re: Covid Vacs
There is no clear evidence that antibodies produced to fight off the virus gave people any protection against being reinfected with Covid-19. The Coronavirus vaccine is not a cure-all. Vaccines are making progress, but they may not defeat the virus.

Re: Covid Vacs
Correct, we now have people who have had two vacs being taken into hospital with Covid, the other tragedy is that all Private Hospitals in NSW have now cancelled none urgent operations in order to help the in the Public Hospitals as the DRs and nurses there are being overrun.
We have had one young bloke die and he had both shots of Pfizer. yes most of it is among the immigrant population as they are as thick as planks. We are glad that they stopped people coming down her as for the moment we have no cases on the Monaro.

Re: Covid Vacs
Des, we had thee same here last year, all elective surgery cancelled as gov said hospitals would be needed for the 300,000 cases we were expected to get.
WE never got within a bulls roar of that number, and most private hospitals just locked up and went home.
They do not have the facilities to deal with people who need the sort of treatment with the Virus.
Result, we now have a two year back log of patients waiting for surgery.
But beware of the figures put out by the media, most are there to scare you, not tell the truth.
We were told by the papers that we had 57 new cases today.
Fact, 54 were already in isolation and had ben for all their infected period, new cases just 3.

Re: Covid Vacs
It was 0600 hours this morning with first news of the day.
'In the UK some 30,000 cases of the Virus were reported yesterday along with 169 deaths. News from USA shows Pfizer and AZ only work for 6 months'
Forward some 50 minutes and the UK corespondent comes on for his daily morning update of news from UK.
"Some 10,000 new Virus cases yesterday and 169 deaths. But the deaths were not associated with the Virus directly, these were people with a variety of underlying conditions, Cancer Heart mad other such who missed treatment last year due to the Virus taking over the hospital situation, and a few who did not go even when they could thinking it would add to the strain on NHS.
News from USA is that Pfizer will require a six monthly booster while AZ will be good for 12 months but will then need a booster."
Two stories from different news sources, the first set no doubt to shock the people who listened, the second closer to the truth.
But bad news sells far better than any good stuff as we all know so well.
Funny but there was no repeat of the fisrs news item .
