I think the level of service depends upon where you live.
In Suffolk I was involved in a car accident when a young woman of afro Caribbean descent lost control of her car, crossed the double white line, hit my car a glancing blow, and never bothered to stop. My wing mirror was ripped off, came through my window and into my face.
A passing van driver took me to the nearest hospital (Aldeburgh Cottage Hospital)
"sorry, we have no A&E here"
"Can't you help this man at all?"
"No, call an ambulance or take him to Lowestoft A&E" (In another county over 40 miles away).
In the end I went to my GP without an appointment, the nurse removed small pieces of plastic and glass from my face, cleaned up the blood and I was driven to Ipswich hospital A&E 30 miles away. After a looooooong wait my face was inspected, I was given an anti tetnus jab and sent home.
My mother who lived in Lincolnshire received the most excellent treatment every time we took her to hospital, once when she had a fall, once when she had a problem with her hip. The staff really took care of her on both occasions and she did not have to wait more than a few minutes. Well done Scunthorpe General Hospital.
my own mother was taken in to have the camera the hospital only gave her laxatives for 3 days then the procediure was cancelled another 5 days went by {no food} so for 8 days she starved they did the camera and the anthstetic stoped her liver and kidneys from working she died 24 hours later is that quality care ?she was 82 but fit as a fiddle the real kick in the stones the camera showed that she was all clear so she realy did not nead it in the first place? a couple of years later they resussed me so were do you go from there? they do make mistakes?jp
My son, a Doctor, worked at Cardiff Hospital, he left because everything had to be translated into Welsh, it made every appointment delayed because of the translations, Every diagnosis, every report, every prescription , every order etc had to be translated. Mistakes could happen in translation. in the end he got very frustrated and packed it in, It was Cardiffs loss. He is doing great elsewhere.
He never met one single Patient or Staff Member who could only speak Welsh.
How Daft is that, it was putting Patients at risk.

Hi shipmate s, Hi Captain Kong, Welsh is the local language and is spoken by many in wales {not in Cardiff} Urdu, polish, and English spoken here I am sure your son must be able to read and speak "Urdu" as he is from Bolton, Tell him we need him in Cardiff again as good doctors are very hard to find. Captain Kong dont get the welsh lobby started, they still have firebombs in storage from the last time { hoilday homes and water pipes} were they main target, they are very active and strong in the real wales The history of the Welsh is a very hard and noble one, they had to fight to speak welsh in the past, and its a hard won right which they wont give up with out a fight many to the death. And { kick English butt on the Rugby field}
Louis kick English butt just sometimes on the rugby pitch but never on the football pitch baa baa regards cappy:rolleyes:
Hi shipmates, Hi Cappy we can only play sport with odd shape balls. Football is a new game here, played by a few city folk. in Cardiff, Swansea, and some others places
Louis nuff said regards cappy
Hi Louis,
my lad doesnt speak Urdu, he left Bolton before it became Boltonistan 25 years ago.
I have nothing against Welsh Language, but in a place like Cardiff, the law about having it translated into Welsh , when no one there can or does not read it in Welsh is a little extreme. , It delays Patients treatment, mistakes have been made in the translation, and there fore that is NOT good for the Patients.
It is only a handful of extremists in the Welsh Assembly that insists upon it to the detriment of Patients.
That is why, you cannot get the Best Doctors in Wales.
If you want a Liver Transplant you have to go to England, Why? because the specialist Doctors cannot do it in Wales because of the language barriers.
That is a fact, the Welsh Patients are being held up because of it.
Speak Welsh in the shops and the Pub and at home, BUT in a hospital the Language has to be English for Safety. SIMPLE.
Cheers
