Only problem here is the Liver consultant at the QA hospital in Portsmouth is used to dealing with very stroppy ex seafarers , so he may be harder to crack Rob..

Hi Rob, , the Liver man, Consultant Hepatologist, at QA in Portsmouth is the best in the business, not only here but across the USA. when I was in the QMC Hospital in Honolulu a few weeks ago They consulted him as they knew him and of his reputation.
He takes no nonsence from the management, he does what is right for his Patients, He leaves home at 7 am and does not get home until 9 pm. if he worked normal hours the Patients would have to have a long waiting list. So he is in there at least 12 hours a day to keep the Patients from waiting longer He is very dedicated to the job and the Patients. Also every three weekends he stays home as he is on call 24 hours a day.
You may need him one day but you will be lucky , as he is the Best.

The BIG problem with Hospitals in many parts of the UK today is immigration.
Too many immigrants are coming in with all kinds of ailments and diseases and having Never paid into the system are now clogging up the system and also costing so much.
The NHS was never designed to accommodate mass immigration that we got in Bliar years.
Every time I have been in hospital I am the lone Englishman on the ward.
TB was erradicated in the UK , we had three Isolation hospitals in Bolton when I was a lad, Blairs Isolation , Wlikinsons Santorium and Hulton Lane Isolation Hospitals as they were no longer needed, the hospitals were demolished. Now due to mass imigration TB is now an epidemic in certain parts of the country. Hospitals cannot cope with the increase of population and the lack of funding by the immigrants.

The standard of Nursing has also gone down. while there are many dedicated Nurses there are a lot without any compassion or indeed any intelligence.
The last two times in Bolton Royal I have got out fast for my own safety.
Last summer I was in there with the same symptons as I had in Honolulu, I was accused of being a Drug Dealer and all my medication was stopped. They said my son had been in there shouting that I had been stealing tablets off my sons girl friend and selling them, The whole ward heard the Nurse shouting in a loud voice and all were convinced I was a Drug Dealer, Very embarrassing. No medication for two days, I got out of there, wrote a letter to the Chief Executive of the Trust and after an inquiry I recieved a letter of appology.
BUT due to that I didnt get a diagnosis of my illness. which happened again when I arrived in Honolulu in February almost with fatal results just four days to live without treatment.
The previous time was in 2009 when I was injured in the Antarctic and had an operation in this same `hospital`, I had no food or drink for three days. So I got out fast.
I had waited eight months for that operation. I emailed the Minister for Health, Labours Andy Burnham , and got a nasty letter off his secretary saying `Dont you know, you should not email the Minister, email your own MP instead` I emailed my Pakistani born MP in 2009 and am still awaiting a reply.
Some hospitals are excellent with no long waiting lists Others in high immigrant populated areas are rubbish.
But again, it is all free if you can get it. Eight days in Honolulu cost $35,000 US.
Go into any A&E on a Friday , Saturday and Sunday night and it is full of stupid drunks, coming in by Ambulance, fighting, spewing up and comatoze due to binge drinking, they cost the NHS a fortune, Charge everyone of them as it is self inflicted, They have built a Police Station inside the A&E department in Bolton so the cops are there to try and control the drunks.

I was in my local doctors surgery the other day , and a rather unwashed English person was so rude to the receptionist that I thought she was about to burst into tears , the doctor has not sent hos Heroin substitute prescription to the Chemist . He was smoking a roll up .unwashed and unshaven , swearing constantly . I did not do the right thing , because this creature looked quite nasty , it is not just the immigrants , we have some of our own to sort out too . I think that the system is so abused that it is falling apart in places , I have a very old fashioned attitude to the methadone addicts queue outside the chemist shop , what they have is self inflicted , why should i pay to help them out ,

Druggies should pay or die, they know what they are doing when they start.
Drunks should also pay and any other daft self inflicted injury.
No immigrant should have any free treatment for at least 5 years. Cant Pay????? dont come here. Problem solved.

Hi shipmates, Junkies on the N.H.S. in Cardiff, have they own unit dont use doctors, no waiting for them???? some still try to get extra drugs by criminal means but the system in place is very easy to check so they dont getaway with it !!! Years ago they had drugs injections by a chemist in front of shop the only place safe from the thefts of drugs all stopped today, due to serious abuse by a few chemist, very easy way to make money . They are trying to do something about the N.H.S. hospitals and heatlh tourist? but it wont work due to the outdated system, and lack of staff to check on them. All types of illegal drugs are very easy to buy if you Know where to go.I would make it legal and tax it at 70% unit the war against the drug pushers is lost.

The NHS is being used as the 'world's maternity wing', it has been claimed
The growing number of "health tourists" using the NHS is costing the taxpayer billions of pounds every year, a senior doctor has warned.Maternity health tourism is a "massive and escalating problem", Professor J Meirion Thomas said.

The health service, which is in the middle of a £20 billion efficiency drive, is being used as the "world's maternity wing", said Prof Thomas.

Writing in The Spectator magazine, he said: "Foreign women often arrive in the UK in late pregnancy, often after detecting a complication. They come on a visitor's visa and present to A&E while in labour. Often the patient refuses to pay, claiming that a childbirth qualifies as emergency care and therefore cannot be refused to anyone. In this way, the NHS can be used as the world's maternity wing."

The cancer specialist added that there is "much evidence" of identity fraud, where expectant mothers give a registered name, address and NHS number - but are found to have different blood groups from the one on record.

He said there are similar "abuses" in oncology, HIV, infertility and in the treatment of renal failure.

Prof Thomas - a consultant surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital London, who holds a chair in surgical oncology at Imperial College - said he has heard "scandalous" reports of NHS abuse from numerous overseas visitor officers - who are employed by hospitals to identify, interview, invoice and recover costs from individuals.

"This abuse may be costing the NHS (and therefore the British taxpayer) not millions but billions of pounds every year," he wrote. "Curbing the abuse is not just right in itself, but may save astonishing amounts - and it can be done through a few simple procedures."

He urged Ministers to stop giving NHS numbers to overseas visitors adding: "Those who work and pay tax here, and have a National Insurance number to prove it, ought to be granted full access to the NHS whatever their residency status. But it makes no sense to accord this right to visitors, especially when an NHS number can translate seamlessly into expensive long-term hospital care."

Prof Thomas added that GPs should be instructed to make sure patients are eligible for hospital treatment before they refer them on. He also called for an audit into the issue.

Hi shipmates, Hi captain Kong, When I was in dock {The Heath hospital} Cardiff I saw first hand health tourist, who had operations and very expensive treatment, done free without any checks ? I was asked by one of the medical team to talk to someone to put his mind at ease? he was from Pakistan {heart op} they were a few from Africa and The middle east, in my ward waiting for treatment, none had ever payed a penny to the N.H.S.? but no doctor/Mr would say no to them, many were from the same broke countries. Foreign woman in maternity wards are they not to just have the baby, but also to get into the country!!! its a well know scam, But stopping the abuse of the N.H.S. wont happen anytime soon, there are many ways to beat the forms, LIES that you must fill in? and The checks are very few if any ?There are NO staff in place employed to do this very important job, in this time of Government cut backs , sorry but the N.H.S. is not taking on any more Admin staff.

What about "Micro Chips" inserted into everybody rather than NHS medical cards issued, they do it in Battersea Dogs home with their clients :rolleyes:
with technology the way it is nowdays it should be possible, and should stop some or most freeloaders.

Boy, if this doesn't hit the nail on the head, I don't know what does!


Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint?
Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.


The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has
a time booked for surgery the following week.


The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment,
then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for
another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then.


Why the different treatment for the two patients?


The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.
The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.
