We refer to them here in Oz as black letter boxes.
We are very happy that the real letter boxes are Red as if any other color we may never get our mail.

You haughty boy, you know you cannot use such terms as" black letter boxes" as apart from insulting persons wearing such garments you are also insulting coulered people and even possibly the LGBT brigade.
