Bleddy marvellous just had a phone call my appointment for tomorrow has been cancelled the doctor has got to go somewhere,whats wrong with the understudies there.
Well I suppose I've waited two years another couple of weeks or so wont hurt.

Oh dear Jim, frustrating times for you mate.
I had my appointment this morning at 8 am CT Scan done by 8.15 am. Doctor called me back into his office at 9.15 and has my results upon his computer screen. He had reviewed my results from my last scan. He says no need to panic, but there is an increase the Plural thickening on my lower left lung but no change in the right one. Back again in 3 months. I was back home again by 10amin time for coffee. Health care here in France is excellent.

Lewis, just curious s, is your medicine cover paid for service?, how much ?, or is it covered on the EU agreement/ As the original post said, looks like the insurance route for the UK eventually. Old shipmate of mine in Canada, had to pay while working, but tells me its free after retirement. Perhaps Den could enlighten us on that.kt

In Spain medical was completely free, prescriptions you had to pay 10% I think it was, Spain has an agreement with the UK & EU agreements.
France also has an agreement with the UK but it is on a sliding scale. You takeout what is called a Mutual Insurance usually through your bank and that gives you access to private hospitals. Being a pensioner the tax system gives you various allowances depending on your income.
I get 70% of health costs paid for by the French government who I assume bill the UK? the remaining 30% is made up by the mutual.
If I want an appointment with my GPI will get seen within 24b hours. I am having treatment for Osteoarthritis on my knees a course of injections over 3month period and they last a year. I asked about a knee replacement as I was down to have one done before leaving Spain. The specialist says see how I get on with the injections, so far I have been reasonably pain free and we are over 6 months in. I asked him how long the waiting list is for a knee replacement. 2 Weeks and that is not private that is the State. In France you go to see a doctor you pay him €23.00 and if you need treatment he gives you a form already filled in and you post it off and you get it refunded. If he thinks you have wasted his time you do not get the form to claim it back. The UK could learn a lot from the French system. You waste the doctors time you pay, you need treatment you get a refund.

That surprises me, i always thought that France , although a much larger country than Uk, had a smaller population than UK, but figures show there is little in it, both around the 65 million. Perhaps we should look at other systems, what do you think Brian Kong !!!!, only joking, kt

the only people against ID Cards must have something to hide , one number would be good for passport , NHS , NI , etc
