Corbyn and his left wing commy pinko followers have been demanding another Inquiry over Orgreave and when Labour gets back into government He is going to have that Inquiry.
Now Why didn't Labour ,who were in Government for 13 Years from 1997 to 2010, have an Inquiry both into Orgreave and Hills borough???????
There is something here that sounds like double Standards.
If they had the Inquiry in 1997, then 19 years ago some men involved on both sides would still be alive, the incident would have been fresher in their minds and it would have been far easier to finalise. Why have Labour delayed it?????

Brian if you disagree with an enquiry what you are saying is that you agree with South Yorkshire Constabulary committing perjury just like they did over Hillsborough surely we can't have a British police force behaving like that no matter what your politics.
I notice nobody has mentioned David Jones a working miner,Jones was hit in the chest by a half brick by youths who opposed the strike when he confronted them for vandalising his car,but the post mortem ruled that this had not caused his death and it was more likely to have been caused by being pressed against the pit gates during the day.
The enquiry is not about the strike but about the actions of the South Yorkshire Constabulary who blamed the Liverpool fans for killing the 96 by their actions which were proved to be false.

I never commented on Police behaviour or the miners or Hillsborough,
you made a big statement of something I never said, that is wrong.
All I said was, If Corbyn wants an Inquiry, then WHY did the Labour Party NOT have an inquiry during the 13 years they were in Government, when more people were alive and memories more fresh.
13 Years was plenty of time to have it so why didn't they???

My Brother was a Miner, he was Forced out on Strike by Scargill`s Thugs, his car was smashed, They smashed windows at his house, they threatened Violence against his wife and children. He had To stop going to the pit.
They never had a Ballot.
They had No reason to strike, They had the best working conditions and Wages, Pensions and benefits of any Industry.
It was a Political Strike by the Commies..
He ended up without a job as the Pit closed by Scargill`s refusal to let the Maintenance Men go down to keep the pits open,
So the pits flooded, the roofs caved in crushing Millions of pounds worth of machinery in each pit.
Scargill knew this would happen and it fulfilled his political ambition to close all the pits and destroy the Industry.
So What would you have done Rigger if your wife, Kids and Home threatened with Violence and your new car smashed up.
What would you have done.????????
I have worked down the Pit before going to sea, so I do know what it is like down below.

Brian it took nearly 30 years for the Hillsborough families to see justice,this was during the reign of both parties so I don't see how you can single one out.

I am Not disagreeing with an Inquiry, I would want an Inquiry, But Labour seem to want to make a claim that the other side is avoiding it. when They could have done something about it all those years ago and then made a Political gain from it..

Who was the one before Scargill, was it Lord Robings.? I have faint recollections of such being present at the Hotel in Harrogate at the night time do. During a Trade Union Congress, we were a guest of Numast at the time. The deputy minister for the MOT was also present. This was May 1991. This event was never as far as I know, ever put in print in the daily rags of the UK, and can only be found in the Numast Telegraph. Scargill saw the way of carving a lucrative career for himself like many other so called leaders of Unions. The principles of a union I agree with, they are today the bargaining power of the working man and are supposed to get the best conditions for their members. They should not be allowed in Politics, that is not their role in life. They do not have the countries welfare at heart, and their brain size is debateable. Anyhow 6 months later I was living and working in sunnier climes. People decry the Australian unions, but to me it was just the Shipping federation in different hands. The Maritime unions each department had their own, and instead of passing through the BSF you went through them, it was a closed shop, but there again what was the BSF. I think the average Joe Bloggs would prefer to go through the Union as go through the shipowner and accept what crumbs he decided to pay. There again you had the spoilers who are good reading material for the Press who are anti union in any case. JS
#40 What I say in a different manner Unionism isn't politics. Politics is a different type of person who likes to keep things to themselves in most cases and so enlarge their power structure. Is all about power. Would anyone in their right mind sit and as the Lady in the International Express who was so concerned that some had to stand as not enough seats for them, the easiest remedy is cut back on the number of MPs. Thus saving the cost of seats and the Multi billion dollar exercise in building a new Parliament when is unnecessary at moment as still being ruled by Brussels. JS

It takes a very intelligent person if you are simply from the working class to work out the ins and outs of what goes on during a dispute, on a small work-face it is simple; everyone knows what is what, but where a big industrial action is taking place there are different forces at work, many which do not relate to the problem at hand are political and do not appear until many years later, and you can say bugger me, I didn't know that. The media who always have their own agenda don't help but hinder with lies.
One such incident was the disaster at Aberfan it was only reading news reports lately that I found out that Harold Wilson was in secret meetings to close down the mines in Wales, and I doubt that he would have insisted that the above ground coal heaps be made safe, hence Aberfan.
I used to be a Labour supporter but unfortunately that party in Britain and here in Australia have been taken over by Uni trained non working people who are only there now for some majority power brokers, we now have to have a bob each way and god help us if we pick the wrong Party, all of whom have their own agendas. So lets not let these old wounds distract us from the good memories we had while at sea.

Jim, #40 yes it could be banned but what next? Freedom of speech is such a wonderful thing that it should never be interfered with. Whilst we may not like what some say we must defend the right for them to say it.
Brian #46 the only reason the Labor party bring it up now is because they are bereft of policy and think this will bring them a few votes. As you rightly say there has been a number of opportunities to bring this up before but no one bothered.
The sad thing about brining it up now is that some of the guilty persons from both sides may no longer be with us, the full story may never be known.
