Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
I hate to say it but he,s the only world leader that's got it right.
If the other countries had listened to him and left Asad alone there would be no ISIL now.I know he was a tyrant but he controlled Syria and with help would have sorted ISIL.His atrocities were nothing compared with what is now going on with the monsters who are overrunning his country.
Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
There is a lot of anti US rhetoric on this site, the US seems to get the blame for everything that is wrong.
Russia and China are equally as bad, they always take the stance opposite the rest of the world.
The west wants Assad removed Russia doesn't, if the people of Syria want Assad gone, that's up to them, not us.
Assad controls his country, allows free worship, something that other Arab states do not allow.
It seems a minority oppose Assad in Syria, could be a different branch of ***** to that of Assad?

Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
The west is trying to nit pick when they only want such groups of rebels as they consider dangerous attacked. Anyone bearing arms apart from the supposedly official army of the country should be considered illegal, the rest of whatever disposition backed by whoever should get one warning if they refuse to put their arms down they will be considered a legitimate target. This is what has kept this war going, the US have armed certain groups who they consider will take out the present government and it hasn't worked. The real answer is forget all those groups that have been armed by the west and take out all belligerents. This is what the US fears that all their trouble in arming certain factions that the Russians are going to take out as well. This at the moment is the only way forward to stop hostilitys in the country unless one wants this war to drag out for ever. Clear the lot out (rebels) then start from a clean slate once again. The waters have been muddied again by outside influences. The present scenario if played out in full with all nations taking a hand in expunging all rebel factions, will finally resolve in public executions of those rebels by the old guard this will be in retaliation to all those Syrian soldiers being executed in a like manner. It would be advisable if this event occurs for the goody goody brigade to keep their own council and cease forthwith in matters outside their own country of origin. Silence is golden, which despite the millions killed they have failed to mind their own business, and recognize they have the same rights as the residents in the country which they are not serving by their interference. The present troubles and the outside assistance being given should be considered at present, trying to clear up the mess that was made on the invasion of certain countries, and in future look before one leaps. Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
Russia backs Assad and today launched an air attack on those they say are ISIS rebels. USA claims they attacked west supporting freedom fighters. One side is telling porkies, but both sides supply arms to both armies. This is not so much a war against |ISIs but a battle between two major nations using the situation to justify their approach to it.
Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
Panorama on BBC1 last night followed the progress of these migrants as they crossed Europe on their way to Germany from Greece through Macedonia then Serbia, Hungary and finally into Austria and Hungary. There were some quite harrowing scenes of young children and old people walking for miles, being put into camps etc and being issued with bar codes at every border crossing.
The reporter commented upon the fact that the majority appeared to be young men of fighting age and raised the possibility that they could be terrorists in the making. He also found many of them were not Syrians (as if we did not know that). Amongst them he found a Syrian male who had not lived in Syria for 13 years but instead had been living and presumably working, in Dubai for all that time. Yet suddenly he decides to up sticks make his way to Turkey and join the masses heading for Europe. Another guy they followed at various points in the journey he was found to be carrying a child he claimed to be his or a relative, at other times he was found to be wheeling a disabled person in a wheelchair claiming she was a relative.
What the program did show was the chaos and complete breakdown of any system that could weed out true refugees from economic migrants or any possible terrorists.

Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
i think cameron got it right after seeing all the young men of fighting age on the march last night .....we can pick from the camps...the families who still wish to live in syria ...and are not desperate to come north....cappy
Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
In all these countries in turmoil one can see the amount of people carrying weaponry openly. Imagine the streets of Europe being the same. There seems to be no capacity or laws to stop such and probably never has been, this shows how far back in the realms of time their history goes, the right to carry arms is not in their constitution as far as I know, simply because most don't have one. They have always as some say rightly had a strong man at the head, remove him and one is left with anarchy. Being replaced by one suitable to other countries is certainly not the answer, they all shout democracy and most dont even know what the word means, apart from free handouts. JS
Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
I too saw the show last night.
many also said they want to go to London. The one that John mentioned, started off with his sister, who later was not his sister, he said he panicked in the boat and threw the bag containing their passports in the sea, but didn't know why he did it, so his sister became not his sister because he had her money. then he is seen with a young girl, then he disappears and then appears later with a lady in a wheelchair. he admitted that by using these people he could get through the checks and onto the buses. A real con man.
He also said there were IS terrorists in the crowd.
Since January I have been writing to Cameron telling him that ISIS had announced they already had 3,000 operatives based in Europe and UK awaiting the call for Jihad. But Pollies think they know it all.

PS , I have been told that Cyprus has only allowed 400 Christian refugees in, no mozzies.
Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
#82.. Not anti from me Vic. just know as everyone else the US has taken some bad decisions. This is not all up to the President although he carries the can exactly the same as a master of a ship. He listens to advisors who apparently are not of the best, I doubt any of the big brass fought in the last war and of the Vietnam war the infantry took the brunt of the casualitys. Nowadays they sit behind computers and send drones in, and they are half a world away. I said when ISIS first started it is going to need ground troops in to get them out. This is what it is going to take, and yet their own countrymen are scared of them, for as a foe they are a formiddable enemy. They are a replica of the japanese Hari Kari warriors of the closing stages of the last war. One can give out the propoganda that they are screaming lunatics, medicated up to the hilt with drugs, dying a slow death by a painful cancer, but whatever excuse you make for the suicide bomber he is a totally committed warrior, even without the 40 virgins he would probably do. If they were employed in a regular and reconized army most of them both alive and dead would be down by the head with medals of the highest order, the worst thing that anyone can do is under estimate their capabilities. There is one thing that the west should of done years ago when to most it was obvious of the migration of the religion, they should have first made Sharia law illegal in their country of residence. This freedom of religion tripe that goes with outdated laws should be written out. This is the final objective of these minded people they want to practice the same and impose the same on whatever country they reside in. The only thing that has kept the mullahs in check in the past has been stronger dictators, and which were taken out by misguided people, and even now they refuse to accept the error of their ways. I dont expect the President of the USA a retired College professor to understand other countries habits, but do expect his advisors to have a bit of common sense. Cheers JS
Re: Migrants/Asylum Seekers/Refugees. ??
As said in Post #83... The Russians must be reading these posts as well. The only thing different is they didn't give the recipients of their firepower a warning to lay down their weapons, or maybe they did and such information is not for the likes of anyone else. The only way I would also see is to disarm all parties apart from the national army of Syria, any other method will drag this war on with further tens of thousands of civilians alongside the combatants dieing. I also see in the International Express that there is a call in the UK to bring back the borders in Europe, is this correct. ?? If so people on this site and elsewhere have been calling for this for years. There is one sure thing a large percentage of our politicians are slow learners. They should get some of the old age pensioners in at their cabinet meetings, to give them a kick up the ass when needed. JS
