i was in the sea cadets when i was 14 and went in the pub for a beer. come back when you are in the navy i was told. my brother-in-law was in the navy and gave me his old pay book and hat band with hms on it .after that i had no trouble getting a drink.

I recall the story od a landlady much the worse for drink. Behind the bar with a spanner in her hand as she had just changed a barrel. A customer said is that a monkey wrench in your hand.
She then hit him saying no one calls me a drunken wench. He ended up in hospital, she in court.
