hi shipmates, Hi john pruden , you were not alone but someone giving away two bob that was a lot? if we had a few pennys giving to us, and it was spent it on bread {cobs} at the local bakery, we had one football {leather} borrowed from a rich boy... was like gold-dust to us, without it nothing to do after school playing football in the park was our only fun...
Louis I ran a football team for 8 years some of the kids parents did not really care what the kids did some would not bother getting their son new boots some would not turn up for training you would ask their mate what is wrong with so and so!! sore ankles? yes his boots were to small he had grown out of them I would ask his size go out buy him new boots throw the box away put them in a plastic bag go around to the kids house tell him to show up on game day get the bag out of the van then it was ayy soft lad you left your boots in the van he would look I would tell him that is between me and you no one else anyway a few years later the team had finished we were still all good mates one new years eve a knock on the door the team had met up in a pub all headed around to our house they eat everything in the fridge drank everything we had like locusts on of them a bit worse for the drink put his arm around me and said I will never forget the time you bought me new boots then half the team started he bought you boots as well all I said was big mouth I told you that was between me and you young lads don't forget I class myself as having 17 sons we are always there for them good days many stories from the footie days teds lad is the best goal keeper I have ever watched even in todays games on tv why he was never snapped up I don't know I did my good deeds and it was a pleasure watching them lads go from boys to men proud of every one of them?{why am I telling this story}jp
