Hello Alf
As you know I respect all posts as I do this one, however as there is nothing to hide or be ashamed of with Tony,s Posts about Cebu,I was thinking of putting that Memorial Page on the Shipping Line that he served most time with! ?? Watts Watts and Co. ??? What say you!?
Cheers
I rather like the idea of a memorial Forum, where the lads like Tony could be remembered. However I am conscious that this could cost Brian in space and it would grow bigger and bigger. I would like to see late members like Tony remembered , but I dont know just how this can be achieved with the budget that Brian has available.
Hi Chris
No worry on the space issue mate,as text doesn't take up too much space. Thanks for thinking of the Site costs etc! Appreciated!
I Have now posted a Memory page for Tony W.
Cheers
I have just seen this post not realising Tony had claready crtossed the bar. Having seen some of the carnage in Cebu I do not think he would have wanted, or been able to stay there.
But as with all our ship mates he will be remembered and at any time we can look at his postings. I have no problem with a page being set up for him, he was a great bloke, but are we setting a precedent if we do. Will we then have to do the same for all who cross the bar?
No disrespect meant by this to Tony or any other member, just my thoughts.
Hello John
I know what you mean, and I respect your thoughts on this issue, however because this was a special case with the Typhoon in Cebu ,and I had started a search for Tony through the Embassies only to later be notified of his passing by his Stepson Paul who answered my message on Facebook ,after reading Capt Kong,s suggestion, thought it would be a fitting thing to have a page set up for him, which I have duly done.
This does not mean that all who pass on must have a special page on site!
His Stepson Paul, also liked the idea so on that basis it was done!
We will always remember anyone be it Ex Seaman or not here on site, and as usual will as true Merchant Seaman post our Condolences and thoughts on anyone,s passing!
I hope that no one here thinks that Tony W was sort of hand picked (No disrespect to him at all) ,it was as said a special possibly one off case!
Hoping that you will understand as will any others who may have the same thoughts !
May he just Rest In Peace !
Thank You
Doc Vernon

This reminds me of my late brother-in-law who brewed his own beer (and a healthy drop that was too). He lived down the Mountain in Blaxland in one of those old houses that had an outside dunny. When he upgraded to an inside toilet he stacked all his beer in the old dunny and put a padlock on the door.
About elevenses one morning he ambled out to replenish the indoor cache only to find thieves had broken in and taken some of the stock. Jack was furious. Over the next couple of days he filled a number of bottles with recycled stock, placed them in a convenient spot inside the door and clamped on a new replacement padlock.
It would have been a few days later that the padlock was broken and some bottles, including those recycled, were missing. Suffice it to say that the dunny padlock remained intact. And if you're wondering, Jack had marked those he was not too keen on sampling.
No disrespect to our Tony, I think he would get a kick out of this.

hi Vernon, I was only suggesting that we had a memorial site similar to the flag project. ie. name birth death shipping co first ship. just a thought.
