Hi Shipmates, All our hospitals N.H.S. and private are all watched, and every cause of death is noted/recorded After some deaths due to many mistakes/errors/ bad treatment by staff and others This in now common in all hospitals in the U.K.. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) lets you get state healthcare at a reduced cost or sometimes free. It will cover you for treatment that is needed to allow you to continue your stay until your planned return. It also covers you for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions and for routine maternity care, as long as you're not going abroad to give birth.

My wife had to attend my sons local doctor in Croatia,the charge £3.50 which means you can continue to visit for a month free of charge.A prescription was issued pay for the drugs at the pharmacist which cost coppers.She was referred to the hostpital treatment is free on production of your passport there is a reciprocal agreement with this country as Croatia are not yet in the EU.

My Anne was in Hospital in Sydney for a week a few years ago, plus prescriptions when she left for two weeks medication, No Charge,
There is a reciprical agreement forAustralia and UK.

My wife was born in Ireland, left at 18 never worked there. Lived in Uk for 18 years. When she visits either country she can get all the medical care she requires even thiough she has not lived there for over 30 years. Makes you wonder some times just how the system works.
we should start to charge drunks and drug addicts for hospital admissions people are waiting on trolleys for hours while if you are alcoholic there are beds waiting for you that's the crazy part of the nhs,jp
has anybody here ever spent 24 hours in a hospital not as a patient? a few years ago i had the most horrifying time waiting for my mother to die and if you just observed what actually goes on in a hospital would shock you as men of the world we would not last a few hours there without loosing it hospital staff put up with things that we would definitely not my daughter is a nurse she has been spat at punched threatened for caring for people some nurses in the front line should carry a baseball bat things that night club bouncers would leave you for dead for but they get back in the trenchers the next day the nhs has frozen nurses pay for the last three years for reasons of cuts yet if the hospital management makes a cock up they are given a very large payoff what ever happened to getting the sack and your p45.jp
I have every sypathy with nurse in the hospitals, when i was youngster whoever heard of security guards in hospitals. I think a large ammount of the problems are the booze. They must dread Friday and Saturday nights. KT
