nurses suicide
now its backfired big time they are remorseful, still giving TV Appearances, her first remarks were her career comes first, at any cost, just shows her mentality and attitude, just like J Ross and R Brandt, make themselves look good at other peoples cost and denigration, they are sub human, now we get Crocodile tears.

Agree with you whole heartedly there Tony. Like the graceful swan floating on the pool of water while the feet are back watering at a rate of knots. Just making it clear that I am not in favour of what they done or how the station handled it. What gets me is how everyone is taking this so seriously while for centuries we have sat back on our back sides while kids where being abused and think how much all this outrage directed at the ones responsible and those that are covering it still would have resulted in so fewer suicides within many families around the world. Same as watching politicians here telling us how they want to stop the boats because so many are drowning yet the same politicians endorsed a war where tens of thousands of inoccent people where slaughtered as collatoral damage. My point is? So long as we can direct our outrage at a small minority it is okay but to take on the major players we are sh8t scared to speak out to stop it. Anyone else see the hypocrisy of all of this. When I get old and commit a crime to get locked up I do hope that most of you are on the jury.

For my part I don't feel outrage, only sadness at the inevitability of this. This was an accident waiting to happen. The radio station pair were doing what they have been conditioned to do, giving the public what they want. I have been at odds with what the public want on occasion hence I don't watch these prank shows. I also don't buy my meat from supermarkets as the public wants lean meat with no fat whereas I want a bit of flavour and a bowl of dripping. But whether you are a radio station or a supermarket you play to the masses as designated by all those market researchers who try to stop you in the High St and ask your opinion when it is pouring with rain. Perhaps we should stop now and again and have a rant or would I be cynical in thinking they already know the answer they want and there wouldn't be a box to tick with my thoughts.
I believe there was a reality TV show in the jungle or somewhere and one of the older competitors got upset because one of the others was told to steal other peoples property as a "prank". The majority of the others on the show came to the conclusion he was only angry as he was "old school" and didn't like stealing. This is the audience that pair were playing to and from their audiences point of view (and possibly in their own minds) they have probably done no wrong.
There are bigger stories without doubt, child abuse in its many forms being a major one, but all these revelations have come into the light of day due to an inquisitive press and the freedom of information act. Stories have long been covered up by powerful figures using corruption and connivance by our police and government. I hope this isn't going to hand Leveson a bigger stick to gag the media but it is certainly a shot in the foot for society.

Having read all the posts on this issue I will say this. Much of the comments are ill judged and symptomatic of many of the hate messages put out on facebook.
The two DJ are not of the age mentioned in an earlier post, they are much younger. Whilst the phone call may have been a prank it was not done with malice.
On TV tonight a previous security guard who worked for Princess Diana stated that the security men who would normaly be on duty, including monitoring of all phone calls, were not employed even though a member of the Royal family was in the hospital. No doubt trhe official enquiry will ask why Lord Glenarthur as chairman of the hospital did not take more care and increase security at this time!
The hospital should have been aware that the Queen does not make personal phone calls.
If you want to vent your spleen on this one then take it out on the producers of the program. Here in Oz, and I am not sure how you do it in UK, such a segment only goes to air after it has been reviewed by the station lawyer. The DJ's do not put it to air. The call was made and recorded, it was then viewed by the lawyer and once given the OK the producer then puts it to air.
Whilst I agree it may have gone wrong the call was made without intent, no gain was intended nor made, the DJ's were as surprized as any one when they got past the main switchboard. If the switchboard person was not on duty why was the task given to a nurse who would have had little understanding of phone protocol, why was a replacement with experience not brought on duty??
I am not standing up for the two DJ's nor condoning the issue, just attempting to look at this issue in a dispasionate manner.
Those in the UK are only getting what the media wants you to see, never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Here in Oz we are a bit closer to the coal face on this one and are getting items on this that may not be reported in UK.

But again John, I was the victim of a Hoax call or malicious call, to the Hospital when I was in there and my Medication was withdrawn for two days because I was accused of stealing drugs off my `son`s` girl friend. and I was a Druggy, who ever she was.
So things can be a little serious.
Cheers
Brian.

Anyone phoning hospitals and wasting their time is sick in the head, especially at the xmas period, its much akin to malicious calls to the fire service, and i have had to deal with many of those. If those persons are caught, they are prosecuted, with a possible jail sentence, so these two pratts fall into the same category as far as i am concerned KT

Having read all the posts from the begining I fined it gratifying that all seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, and I also fined this a tragic loss of life, and hope that the two DJ's are sacked for there stupidity. But as others have intimated, why is the Hospital getting away scot free. This Hospital has been the chosen Hospital of our Royals for many years, and should therefore have secure systems in place so that this kined of call is detected straight away, as Syd sujested in his post, basic security was lacking. It makes me wonder what there exquese would have been had it been a terrorest attack. Perhaps thay would have let the gloryhole stewerd take over from the MA on the gangway.

The owners of the radio station it would appear, have set up a trust fund for the dead nurses children, the income for the trust fund is apparently coming from the profits the radio station are going to receive from advertising.
Am I being very cynical here, or is this a ploy on behalf of the radio station to keep its main advertising clients from jumping ship as a number of them have already done. By stating how the Trust Fund would be financed, the radio station are making the advertisers look mean if they leave the station as by leaving they are not contributing to the trust fund. It will also ensure that they, the radio station, stop any further advertisers leaving the station.
As John says, just a thought.

Agree Chris,
The important thing here as far as the forum goes i refuse to fall out or compromise my comradeship with all the OZ Lads on the forum over this , It is a tragic case and unfortunately either the radio station in question ,Or the 2 D.J.s will come up smelling of roses. We are all entitled to our opinion that's all what is good about Merchant Seaman we were at some time or other all in this together. Shipmates and we still are. My last thought on the subject a comedian on stage is only as funny as his last performance. ;) Regards all Terry.
