hi dave,
i left ellermans in 1979,got redundancy, asked the super for it,got out just right i think,went shore side as pat had a little boy.had enough of the sea by then.went into the royal dockyard at chatham till they decided to close it.got lucky and trasfered to rosyth in 83,where we have been ever since.

Your name is familiar, I was also in Ellermans (E&B) from 1963 to 1966 as apprentice and cadet, went to Shaw Savill when I got my 2nd Mate's cert. Ring any bells?
