Had a look for any foreign coins you might have left for payment but couldn’t find any , so must assume Gwen must have thrown out. She reckons she only dumps bottles for my own good health. #55 What I can’t understand Vic , if it such a big issue with so many against the giving of this award, how come there appears to be a silence in the media about it. As I say I saw a minute piece in the international express about him having received the award , and no mention of the million Adverse opinions . Is it just being ignored and are the general public not even to be given a view on the subject. I think before I lost the email connection it’s on the site I put up what I thought would happen , if it didn’t go , then it was meant to, that the feelings about the British government going ahead with a deaf ear will have repercussions in the Commonwealth countries, I know myself when it next comes round to vote for staying in the Commonwealth it would certainly affect the way I voted , and there must be many like me who think along the same lines . Most countries today have a minus in numbers when It comes to ex British members from the uk . It wouldn’t take much to push it away over the line. And the last reminder of our heritage will disappear , so what ? many will say , the only country who will be the loser is the uk itself. I think the Queen has been badly advised on this Occassion. A petition to the Government (to be debated in Parliament ) has to ;-
* be supported by at least 6 people to start the Petition
* has to go to via Govt. Petition website
* After 10K signatures the Govt. will respond
* After 100K signatures the Petition will be considered for debate.
In the case of TB the Petition is a 'private' one. That is, it has not gone via the Govt . Petition site.
So, it doesn't matter now how many signatures are there. According to the rules it cannot be debated in Parliament....
