On May 3 52 I was signing on the Wave Baron for my fourth year at sea, for a trip to Aruba and parts unknown. I was doing what John says is Gaga do do thingy much earlier in 32,and looking forward to seeing all those lovely planes on their fly over.

well john idid actually sail with a one legged guy who had his own sailing yacht out of scarboro and whitby .....name of swallow .....he esconced himself in the stern and a bloody shoehorn would not have got him out while racing ....he invarably put me into the water when taking us round the half way buoy....and remember one time he put the boat hard over before i had dropped the ....big boy as he liked to call it ...it was very cold and very dark and she just layed flat on her side ....sadly for me i was under the sail and under the water ....getting short of breath as sea water filled my gob each time i opened it i saw a very slight gleam of light on the mast and started to work my way towards it .....after what seemed a lifetime she started to right herself ...and i discovered while clambering to to the light i had managed to get about 10 foot up the mast ....as she finally stood on an even keel... smart ass shouted what the feck are you doing up there to which my reply was based some swear words i didnt even know that i new.....any way it is hard work doing a bit of yacht racing ....just two of us ...he wouldnt let me helm stating it was his boat and i was crew .....lol ...but after a couple of seasons of coming back black and blue ....i jacked it in...he and his wife had both lost the right leg in an accident on a motor bike in paris ...but it never held iether of them back ...both gone beyond the sun now ......regards cappyQuote:
