Well lads I have put in my leave request in triplicate, one for the second steward, one for the skipper and one for the pool. Saturday we sail for ten days. Royal Carribean cruises, good from what I have been told by a coupole of people here who went on her. Will soon find out and let you all know how it is now.:eek:

Ajay........did you ever sail on the "Carousel", I believe that she was one of the cruise ships operated by Airtours, she was ex RCCL.....Cheers....Glan

I had a couple of cruises on Carousel when she was owned by Airtours, and she was a nice friendly ship. She was originally built in1971 for Royal Caribbean, and called Nordic Prince, but is now called Arielle, owned by Louis Cruises, and chartered to Transocean Tours.

Thanks for the reply, did either of you sail with a Phil Rentall ? He sailed as my staff captain in the early 1990's, in 1993 I delivered a cruise ship to Singapore where she operated as a gambling vessel ! Phil Rentall took over from me as master. Have not heard anything since except that he joined Airtours and served on the 'Carousel"........Cheers.....Glan

Philip Rentell was the Captain on a cruise I did on Sunbird in 1999, and met him on a bridge visit. He was really friendly and got on well with the passengers. According to the web he is currently a captain with Saga cruises.

I was lucky enough to find an used copy of Philip Rentell's book, received it to-day from Bookbarn International, Bristol. Good reading, surprised to see a nice comment about myself from Philip on pages 96/97 and also page 151. Also a photo when about to sail from St Petersburg, Florida , I'm the short one ! Am going to try and locate an e-mail address for him, believe he is still on board the Saga Rose. Cheers.....Glan
