cruise ships

We have done 9 now and all but one have ben very good. The bad one, and it was bad, was with P&O Australia. Princess and RoyalCaribbean are the other two companies we have used wit no complaints. It is a great way to see the world, enjoy being out on the ocean again, talking with the crew who always seem to be fascinated at the way things were in our day. Great food and entertainment, good accomodation, good company as most of the others aboard are also there fora good time, noit a long time. You get to meet some very interesting people like the couple on our last one, they had just done their 83rd cruise with Princess lines. Have heard they are now up to 86.

I sincerely hope that Princess Lines will give them a free cruise for their 100th:0012:. Must be a record.

Nothing could induce me to travel like a sardine, maybe on a Cruise Ship from the 60,s not on a floating apartment block, 3000 passengers , more like a pilgrim ship..each to thereown choices.

They dont all have 3/4,000 passengers on,
Minerva had 350,
Funchal had 350,
QE2 if it had a full load was 1760,
Caronia had 400,
Rotterdam 1400
Queen Mary 2, the worlds biggest had 2,400, so big it was almost lonely.
I never go on any more than 2000,
Those big 4,000 passenger ships rarely do more than 7 days.
I always go world wide there are much less passengers on those.

with the size of the ships there is plenty of room for a lot of passengers and only at times can seem crowded , like at the theatres and around the pools ,apart from them you can seem to be on your own sometimes , when we did our first cruise thier were 2500 passengers and we hardly saw anyone on our deck ,the prom deck ,and some of the public rooms we took a couple of bottles with us and still ended up with a $350 bar bill after one week , of course I,m still drying out :thumb_ship:yo ho ho and a, what was the rest I forgot ,bloody hell its catching up to me .were,s me bevy :th_thth5952deef:

Last trip on Queen Elizabeth, San Francisco to Sydney, 25 days. my Bar bill was nil.
I took two litres of whisky with me and and I made very good friends with a beautiful young lady in the ships duty free shop. Bottles are not for sale until the end of the voyage, but she let me have a few bottles of whisky as and when I needed them about £8 a litre. Paid on my credit card. It must have been my magnetic Charm and Sex Appeal that did it. It happened to no one else. It saved a lot of money in the bars. There is always a way.
I did the same on a 38 day trip from Fremantle to Liverpool on the Funchal.
The beautiful young lady Someliere, kept me and Joe Finnegan in free wine at dinner every night, because I told her I loved her every time, she went all girlish and she gave us the free wine for the whole trip, we were bevied at the end of every Dinner.

Did our first cruise on P & O Adonia last Nov, went a bit tongue in cheek, but to my amazement, really enjoyed it, we went with four other friends who had cruised before, needless to say we are going on the Oceana at the end of the month to central Med with the same friends, so looking forward to another good trip:smileyship:

Tony most of them only carry about 2200 when full. If you stay away from the pool there is plenty of space if you look for it. There are many like me who do not like the crowds so I look for a deck space away from the main deck. The only other time you will see a crowd is in the dinning saloon, but that is now worse than a full large restaurant. Theater full for the shows but that again is no different from a show ashore. There are enough bars to find a quiet spot if you need it and after about 2100 hours you will find half of them have gone to their cabins so plenty of space.

I tried to talk my passed wife to go on a cruise but she would have none of it flying was she liked .While weare on about cruise ships i see that we in Dunedin are going to get more and bigger ships this season lets hope it does not rain when you was here Brian we do get some sunny days
