hi brian why not try to get a pier head jump no insurance yes its a bit of a problem every time my wife and went to the uk it went up hundreds of dollars and if you are on medical pills it makes it more so but it is a thing you have to have these days its not like our seafaring days when we got to see the world on pay hope you are keeping well
Like Robpage, I have had the same issues but am now covered by Staysure. Age,blood pressure and any mention of hospital visits & especially reference to cancer consigns you to the travel insurance trash can.
I too am as fit as a fiddle and still working almost seven days per week but they pay no attention to that.
Brian mate with all of those you could become a millionaire, hijack looks a good rate as does abandonment. But who do you have to abandon to get it.
Mate i use my gold credit card for all travel insurance, it works as we once had to claim, very easy all we had to do was pay the first $100. In Oz it is unheard of for anyone still alive to be refused travel insurance.
having spent 35 yrs in the insurance industry i learned the secret.Money must only travel one way(towards the insurance company) any indication that it could travel in the other direction upsets them.
My advice would be to try to find a local insurance broker who might be able solve your problem

I have just contacted STAYSURE, the price was good, £297. BUT because I am over 75 they do not insure for more than 31 days. My trip is for 54 days.
I will keep on seaching .
Cheers

Hi Brian,
M&S have free insurance with their account card if you upgrade it. They list all the medical conditions that they cover. Might be worth taking a look at their website. I used Age concern for our last cruise (I have HBP, had a heart attack, high cholesterol etc etc, but then I'm only 71!!!). The mind boggles, it is getting absolutely ridiculous. Hope you get sorted!
Regards Russ Kennedy ;)
Thanks Russ. I am very fit, had my annual test,
Low Chloresterol,4.0
Heart, ECG, good,
Kidney scan , good
Liver scan , good.
Blood tests , good.
Electrolytes , good.
Lung function test, Good, I blew it off the scale, my doctor only did half that when he tried.
joints, good.
muscles , good.
I am a superfit hero, with a little blood pressure,
I dont do bungy jumping, Skiing, diving, hang gliding, no smoking, very little drink , just a glass of wine at the weekend. Not leaping from my balcony into a girls balcony, So what is their problem, ?
BUT because I am 76 I cannot get any for 54 days.
As I said to the last woman on the phone, at least Al Capone was Honest, he admitted he was a Gangster, Insurance Companies dont.
Cheers

Insurance never seems to be a problem for people visiting the UK does it? If they take ill, our international health service looks after them, and if by chance they get a bill, they just go home and ignore it. Like Brian I have had problems with holiday insurance even though i'm basicaly fit. Maybe its time we had an EU bill against ageism, Albi.
