[Russ Kennedy]

In memory of Norman Moat, who crossed the bar 13th November 2007, aged 67, after a long, hard struggle with cancer. Norman was Senior Electrical Engineer with Palm Line for 27 years, my shipmate 1962 – 68, he would stand in as junior engineer when we sailed short handed. He was my Best Man and he was my best buddy for 46 years, he was a gentleman through and through, even in the last days of his struggle. He is sadly missed but will never be forgotten. God Bless you Norman.

I'm so very sad to hear about your best man and good mate Norman Moat,especially as he was quite young.
It must be painful for you at this time, and I share your sadness,as I know many others will here.

It's up to us all to remember our mates by keeping the dream alive for them and us,and I know this 'ship' helps us to do just that. We All Understand.

Hello Russ,
Although its been a while since his passing,i know that a good Friend like that will and can never be forgotten,its always so hard to loose someone who you have just about grown up with,and is almost like a Brother!
I have also had that experience Russ,as i suppose have many here.
I hope that time has healed the pain a bit Russ,but the memory will go on forever!

Hi Davey, Vernon,
Thanks for your kind words an support regarding Norman. You know Vernon, you hit the nail right on the head. Norman was an only child, I had a brother who emigrated to Aussie in 52, so I never really new him. as a result Norman and I became very close, he always said we were like brothers. He introduced me to my wife (always told him he had a lot to answer for!!!), my wife and his wife are exceptionally close, even more so now. As you and Davey have said the memories are great, they can never be taken away. This site is amazing for creating new friends, even though we are hundreds or thousand of miles apart.

The Last Voyage
