Re: Denis O'Shea
Dont know if Cappy or anyone else ever saw off Sept Isles a school of White Whales frolicking in the water . Never ever saw such an impressive thing with whales ever again in whatever part of the world. Whales were always a common sight at sea especially in this part of the world and humpbacks , but that one particular school off Sept Isles and the antics they got up to made them appear human. JS

With a name such as Humpback and frollicing as would humans would account for the name.
Here in Oz many houses have what is known as a Rumpus room, no not a Humpus room as one of my sisters thought it was called.
Did hear Cappy had trouble with Mary as she had a bad back ,, but Cappy said it was because she humped her leg around.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Yes John #14, it certainly is.
On some of the modern container ships with so low crew numbers how do they manage to carry out any maintenance?
Often not long enough in port to do any thing so how do they manage?
Overtime was plentyfull when officers steward, Charnley chief officer said we had to be on call 24/7 in case an officer, mainly engineer, coming off watch required anything, usually it involved a trip to one of the bars particularly for the 8 to 12.

Concerning maintenance companies will put a riding gang onboard. Todays crews especially engineers are plant operators.
