Re: Another Benliner
Served on the Benarty as 2nd R/O on my first trip to sea in June 1966 the chief R/O was Willie Paterson. Great first ship but had to payoff after the 3 month voyage to get the rest of my 6 months junior status and ended up on a collier " Sir William Walker" running down the North Sea to the power station at Shoreham. Left the sea in 1970 and married a California girl and have lived in Los Angeles ever since, but will always remember Willie and the Benarty.

Re: Ben Line
Hi there, the last post seems to have been a while ago but maybe some of my cohort will see this so here goes.
My name is Richard Pitt and I was a deck cadet from 1977 to 1981 - sailed on Benalbanach, Benloyal, City of Edinburgh, Dunstanburgh Castle etc. Went to Hull Nautical College because Leith was full I think - good times if a little mad and met fine comrades such as Colin Graham, Frank Rossiter, Colin Gillies, Greg Bullock etc etc. Also sailed with old schoolmate Stewart Haxton from my home county Angus - Forfar to be exact. Anyone out there..?

Re: Ben Line
Richard, in the mid 70s worked just down the road from you with Turriff Taylor at the pipeline office at Coupar Angus. Lived across the Tay at Kinclaven. Bought a very old book 'Scottish Lyric Gems' from the bookshop in Meikle - it's on my bookshelf.
Cheers.
Richard
