Re: John in Oz
Thank you for this post Vern as I had forgotten that I had not cleaned my computer for a while. I am old school and still have a desk top computer which I find forgiving unlike the lap tops. I never ever put the side panel on the computer allowing more air into the unit. What I just did? After turning power of. Disconnect everything and lay it on its side. Unscrew the fan on the CPU allowing me to release the CPU holding down bar. Of course as usual the CPU fins are caked full of dust. Get a light brush and clean all the dust out of it. This is where one can get into a awful amount of trouble unless you make sure you do not flick the dust indoors then the sheriff will have my nuts mounted. Installation is reversal and all takes a couple of minutes. Reason being that dust is one of the biggest killers of a computer in my book so might be why this old unit is still chugging along just fine. Just hope that this might help others by not having to take their computer to the hospital as I am sure that is all they do as well.
That's the way the mop flops.
My thanks to Brian for this site.
