Re: Off for a wee while
Chris I received something today which said if I did not press install in 200 seconds I could not have the update.first of all there was a siren going off real loud I had to look around to see what it was and as it happened it was coming from my computer with the above message. On top of the message was another notice I'm not sure if it was firewall warning me that it was a security warning.I left it all until my son came down he said it looked like a scam as it did not say it was from Microsoft (it had the Microsoft logo etc) it gave another company name,he googled that name im not sure what he came up with now.He has now installed some extra security on my laptop and give it a good scan he reckons no virus found.Has anybody on here ever had a loud siren coming from their laptop to get their attention.
Regards.

Re: Off for a wee while
Jim, it happened to me about a year ago and came up to call this microsoft number but it was a scam and cost me 94 quid to get my computer back, I am a lot wiser these days. Regarding this latest update from MS I also had trouble on opening programs so I put myself into restart and things seem to be back to normal. Rgds Den

Re: Off for a wee while
Had a similar thing with a caller some weeks ago.
Told me my computer was in danger and I should go to it and follow his instructions.
As it was not on I told him how to do the impossible to himself, he did not reply!!

I changed from Windows XP PRO to Windows 10 last year. Biggest mistake ever, it is much harder to work with than XP, WISH i NEVER BOTHERED.

Re: Off for a wee while
I got in touch with Microsoft definite scam, they were pleased that I reported it and will trace the source and blank it.Whilst I was talking to him he cleaned my laptop up got rid of all kinds of stuff and emptied by trash bin.
