    Default Bridging the gap

Have been off line for a while and just tuned in. A lot to catch up on.
Over a month ago I got a very painful tooth ache and called the Katoomba Hospital Dental Clinic. Appointment 20 January. A week before my appointment went to my GP for my four weekly catheter change and asked the Doc about my swollen face. Abscesses on two molars!! Prescribed antibiotics. Dental clinic took Xray - "don't do this sort of work, here's a voucher and the phone numbers of all the dentists." (within a 100km). Chose one at Leura (10km). Five days wait.

All this time feels like someone is using a jackhammer on my lower jaw. Dentist appointment last Monday.
"Can't get a proper image because of bridgework, (crafted by my dentist in better days in Singapore forty years ago) the hospital clinic have an advanced Xray machine. Can you get a copy off them. Wednesday. Took the copies, after enhancing the image to various stages of clarity on my trust computer, to the dentist who said she'd study them and get back to me.

Today is Australia Day,everything is shut, the jackhammer keep thumping, anything other than panadol is apparently non-compatible with all the other issues some of my vintage have. Tomorrow is another day and as our dentists are renowned for charging like wounded buffaloes, there is no doubt that the pain will be even more excruciating.

    Cheers,
    Richard

Sounds like your doing it ruff Richard ! I had all my teeth out two and a half months ago new choppers will be launched next Friday week hopefully. Been on a diet of canned soup all that time, just starting to eat other food like cheese and bread, and the odd bowl of corn flakes for breakfast.Peel myself out of bed with a can opener every morning.

Sorry for your troubles Richard, I had an abscess a few years ago and know just how painful they can be, but to have two,
and over that period of time is something else, all the best. JC

Hope the situation is resolved ,very soon. Richard.
Awkward time, for it to happen, and getting ."the run-around".
    Don't interfere with A Holiday.Sacrilege! ,
Two weeks ago. My little Friend, rushed her adored pet Cat to to a Vets.
Gave Her couple tablets. "We close shortly. Sat. Midday." Keep an eye on Her over the Week-end. Should the Attacks continue
    Here's a .After Hrs , Vet 's number . "
Course on the Sunday , The Attacks, continued.every .5-6 Hrs.. Mon. morn we were waiting ,for them to Open. Before being seen, She had an attack again, whilst in her cage ,in the Waiting Room. Immediate action .Went straight to the desk.
Cat went to one area, us to an inner office. I had a go at the consulting Vet. Saying couldn't your colleague Have done A little more ? Or was it The Sat. Afternoon thing. ? Their , Get-out being," Well Mercedes .was given an After Hrs Number !" I'm Afraid to say How much the Bill was. Though I'm sure your eventual Dentist, Would look at it approvingly.
    Today ,Australia day,Yes .
Yesterday Morn ,had occasion to call about a small ,but important little job to be done here, Was Asked ,"Will you be Home All day?" Yes. "We'll send someone round later on" Thank You for that!
About 2-3 hrs. Later. Phone Rings. Oh Hello! ,Came round earlier ,knocked, few times. . I Said well the doors were open ,I was in the Front room. All morning.

Yeah! He says . He sounded a nice Chap. He continues ." Will you Be there on Friday ?"
    Yes ! " O.k. See you then"
If I was Cynical ,Would have thought, Aye !Aye! Early start ,to the OZ DAY holiday. In the Meantime Richard , hope this little digression fills in a bit of time ,till you get the Pain fixed. Myself think ,perhaps A few Shorts .might Help.
    Cheers!

I am extremely lucky being a volunteer at the local community health centre I can get all the dental treatment I need.

My upper dentures need replacing, will see the dentist next week and with the voucher I am given it will only cast me about $50 for new ones.

But Richard you have my deepest sympathy, been there done that and still got the tee shirt. There is nothing worse than a raging tooth ache.
We have a dental hospital here in Melbourne open every day of the year and they do emergency treatment.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Hi Richard.
Commiserations on your problem anything to do with teeth is a bugger, down here the voucher system is used you dont pay if your a pensioner BUT! they give you two dentists to choose from, my wife chose one who turned out to be a Thai or something, absobloody hopeless, she ended up in more agony than with the toothache, that was a few years ago. I had pieces of old wisdom [ I have plenty] teeth sticking out of my gums, went to a lovely Swedish dentist I was so entranced I didn't feel a thing until she took my wallets contents.
Hope all your pain is soon relieved.
    Cheers Des

I found the best cure for Tooth Ache when I was at sea was , a Mouthful of whisky, hold it over the offending tooth for as long as you can and then spit it out, and again. the pain will stop.

Dentists must be one of the few professions that do not guarantee their work, go and get a filling, here for me last week was £85, if the filling falls out a few days later, another £85' thank you very much. Here on the Island it's impossible to get a NHS dentist, so private only, kt
