It looks like it will be war soon (I hope not) as Iraq is issuing threats.
If it is war it will interesting to see how our ****** population will react.

worked for AMPTC for a while back in 80's. Basically European officers teaching, guiding Arabs of all nations to run ships. a real mixed bag. one moment stands out in my memory. A Palastinian from Nablos , quite a fervent type, once chatting to my wife and I stated quite matter of fact, how much he hated the Jews. As a bit of a peace-loving type in general, I was shocked , but said something placatory, to which my shipmate replied, "if we have one square metre of land of our own we will use it to mount a gun and ...etc" We have never forgotten his words, so filled with passion and hatred. , 40 years on the hatred still goes on. What a sad state of affairs, and no apparent solution in sight. one weeps for all concerned

What was that usual question in the orals for second mate “ you have 2 steam trawlers crossing ahead of you , one from port to starboard , the other from starboard to port ,what do you do ?” . The answer ultimately wanted was slacken speed and let the case develop. To do so in this present case would be the absolute wrong thing to do, strike while the iron is hot and that is what is going to happen as regards Gaza. Other mid eastern countries with the same religious ways of life should give them succour and take them in , any other foreigners should go back where they came from. Seal the tunnels off and bury them. JS
#82 Vic, The Iranians are always making threats and sabre rattling. They seem to make a lot of military arms available to anyone who will further their aims in the Islamic world. I do not think that they will directly attack Israel as the consequences from both Israel and the USA would be overwhelming. The Ayatollah's and the religous police + secret police who run the country, are hated by the young and educated middle classes in the cities. There is a strong current of rebellion by the latter, which I think would spell the end of the present regime if they directly attacked Israel.
A lot of the usual countries who would normally rally around the palestinians, have there own problems eg Syria with its civil war, Libya ditto and Yemen both civil war and the ongoing war with Saudi Arabia. There will always be individuals from those countries who will go and call for Jihad but direct involvement is probably unlikely. Other countriese in the region especially Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt appear to be very quiet about helping there Arab brothers. whether that is because they remember what happened to them when they attacked Israel in the past or they only wish to help the Palestinians but not Hamas or other extremist organisations be they secular or religious in the region, who want Israel wiped from the map.
If Iran keep rattling the sword and look as if they are going to attack Israel that Nuke plant in Iran will be Israels first target.
between 2009 and 2012 I made about 3 or 4 business trips to Tehran, in one part of the city (predominantly a residential area) is a very large nuclear research plant. My thoughts at the time were mainly that it was a deliberate policy to possibly to use the residents as human shields/
tony hamass has waited about seven years for this so they are well stocked up for a fight they started the fight but israel will finish it we will be dragged into it soon many lives will be lost before an end thats if there will ever be an end?? jp
