Old Records ... Deck Log Books or similar?
Whilst trying to sort out my records I find that I have lost my records for two ships that I sailed on.
One, from late 1978, was Kubbar ... a Kuwaiti registered ship managed by P&O GCD / Strath Services, and the second was Stratherrol, this from late 1979. Again this was GCD.
All I want is a record of ports visited ...
I seem to recollect that the Stratherrol managed 12 ports in 18 days .. running around Japan.
Has anybody any idea as to how to obtain this information?
I suspect that this might be a failed enquiry due the the lengthy time period involved but one can but try?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Old Records ... Deck Log Books or similar?
Hi
I am not 100% sure as to if you can still get the Voyage Record Crads of those dates ,but most all VRC are held at the Guildhall Library in London.
You can apply for the Crads online still i believe.
I got mine quite a few Yeras back ,but the Trips were of around the late 1959 into the 60's.
But worth the ask, just send ten an Email
Cheers
Added from a source
Voyage Record Cards (1927 - 1975) are still held at the Guildhall Library
Guildhall Library holdings
- Lloyd's List from 1741 to date (some early years are missing).
- The years 1827-1945 and 1976-2010 are held on microfilm.
- All other holdings are in hard copy format until December 2013 when publication in hard copy ceased.
- Voyage Record Cards 1927-c1975. A minimum of three working days' notice is required for
consultation.
The VRCs at Guildhall Library are for merchant vessels and usually give vessel name, port of registration, net tonnage and name of master. They cover c1927 – c1975 and form an index to shipping movements in
Lloyd’s List. Dates of arrivals and sailings and port abbreviations are given on the cards which generally give the user everything they need without the need to look at
Lloyd’s List itself. There is also brief reference to shipping incidents and casualties.
Just for interest

For info ... I contacted the Guildhall and they very kindly gave me the information I was after. Impressed by their service although confused as to the fact that it revealed I joined a ship at Liverpool!
Don’t remember that but checking my discharge book shows just that!
