Re: Can anyone ??
Ahh! Radar. Wonder how many hours I spent glued to the screen when Master in n.european waters, stanlow to Antwerp in vis never more than 1 mile for the whole trip. Creeping up the river Scheldt in virtual zero Vis, creeping into the lock not seeing anything until the lock wall looms into view just abeam of the focsle and then into the dock system with barges moving around not reporting to the vts.
On tankers it is an IMO requirement to have twin radars fitted. I always sailed with 2, one X band, the other S band, fitted with dual interswitching so that if one tx/Rx sailed the display of the failed unit could be used as a slave to the working unit. Even today radar log books are required to be kept with hours in use, reason for use ( navigation or collision avoidance), Shadow sector diagram.
As for degaussing gear, I can recall at least two of the white Beavers having it fitted but as one had been built in Finland and the other drought off the stock's at Robb Caledonia, don't think their gear was paid for by the government.

Re: Can anyone ??
John, Latin or Greek?
It may w ell be that at some time both called it by different names. Greek can at times be confused with Aramaic and much of the language used at the time of Christ was that one.
Latin may have come later as the region developed.
Many such names end up as a mixture of two languages.
English is a classic example where more than a dozen languages are thought to have made up the English we now have.

Happy daze John in Oz.
