#19 -Oh dear, I see the good Doc has moved from my big toe to the kidney's! Is he taking the p**s or what? Useful as they are, all the advice and relative experiences of our ships company on this subject, can confuse somewhat in relation to taking other medication. Conflicts can occur.
I take 80mg of statin each day and at my last mot my liver function was slightly under par. Doctor says that is normal and the statin does more good than harm. A trade off there, I think. I can't see my liver but my right big toe at the moment is the size of a Cumberland sausage and throbbing nicely.

Build-up of Uric Acid crystals.
Take CIDER VINEGAR.(Good brand - not the stuff they give to horses ) ASPALLS is the best.
1 TABLESPOON in small amount of hot water and TEASPOON of honey . THREE TIMES a day. Not the greatest of tastes, but as my Mum used to say,"Medicine is not supposed to taste nice".
That will dissolve the crystals.
Stay off 'red food' - Tomatoes; Radish; Peppers. etc.
Good book by Margaret Hills on treating Arthritis - which belongs to the same Club as Gout.
If you 'Google' Apple Cider Vinegar there are lots of tips out there !

LIVER FUNCTION TESTS................
Serum Bilirubin ,,mine ,, 10 ...upper level 21
serum alanine transaminase 27.... upper level 45
serum alkaline phosphatase 94,,,,, up /le 39 -130
serum albumin 40 .... up/lev ,35 - 50.
so keep your readings below the upper levels and your Liver should be OK.

On my last MRI Scan on my liver and pancreas I asked the Doctor for a copy of it and he gave me two DVDs of the scan. So I can put them on my computer and do a tour of my inards, Pancreas, Liver and Kydneys etc,.
Very interesting.
Every time you have a scan or Surgery you can request a DVD of the operation,

brian I would not be able to sit through a dvd of a surgeon taking half my lung after busting most of my ribs on one side then 200 stitches in my back not for me and I am not squeamish watching things on the tv even my own doctor has told me its a very brutal operation but the grandkids show of telling their friends granddad was bitten by a big shark and shot in the back{drains they put in} errr no two bullet holes I mean??:p

gilly if gout can get parts throbbing like a Cumberland sausage how can I catch it?:p:p jp

brian thanks but no thanks I know the after effects I am doing ok just waiting for nerves to heal a bit I died twice after the op woke up after a coma but still of the ciggies and weight is back on I lost 2 and a half stone that's back ribs healing well still bruised inside but that will take another couple of months and I am having a war with a new doctor a month ago she cut my pain relief by half just when I needed it I have left record in my surgery I would not let her look after my dog{that went down well with her}I am up and about always look forward never astern that's me mate?? I have not got time to die been there three times now and there is no tunnel white lights people waiting and you don't feel a thing its just the same as an anaesthetic out you go? still don't know why I am still here? brian mine was on the left so they must have seen the heart beating it was at the bottom of the left lung sliced filleted and put back together and the consultant and two doctors stayed with me all that night and he had a clinic the next day and they want them to work 7 days a week my ar.e with the government they have not got a clue I seen site in the critic care no man should ever see to save people and the same people are alive today.. jp

Keep on fighting. you will get better.
As regards Doctors and Staff working seven days a week, my son has been doing that for years, and also from 7.30 am to 9pm at night, long days just to get through his list of patients.
I was talking to him at the weekend, That Health Minister, Jeremy Hunt, has had NO Medical training at all so doesn't know what he is talking about. and they are making more cuts in the funding of the NHS.
He told me that Cameron`s NHS Adviser is a Director of a private hospital and it will go private eventually.
Hope you improve soon. If you don't like your Doctor you can change, don't take any crap off them our Taxes pay their wages.
