Sometimes different ships within the same company are registered under a different ownership,as in this case of the Warkworth,although most crews would have called it one of Dalgliesh's.
....And almost all these old British companies in the list are defunct.
Believe all of Dalgliesh"s ships were registered under different Company headings. An old dodge of the British Shipowner to prevent seizure of other vessels in case of lawsuits etc. etc. Regards J. Sabourn

I was an engineer on the WARKWORTH IN 1963.
We did the Great Ice Race that year, to Churchill Canada.
Churchill was Iced up for most of the year then and only open for three to four months.
To get there you have to dodge the icebergs when going up the Hudson Straits then packice into the hudson
bay. Once there at Churchill there was no labour so the crew were payed extra to work the cargo.
I believe the captain had won the race 12 times in previous years, so maybe your father was there in one of those years .
The Warkworth was a fine ship and engined with a 4 cylinder doxford.

Hi Colin, was mate on the Warkworth in 1965. Agree with what you say about crew working the cargo. Used to start off with local labour the local indians and eskimos, however as soon as got paid used to disappear to the Hudson Bay Trading Company no doubt for convivial purposes and never saw again as regards working vessel. The Ice Race was given much publicity probably for commercial reasons, however as the trophys and mementos were made up so many months before hand with ships name etc. on, I think it was as one would say these days as a fix. I beleive I have one of these trophys somewhere which received before arrival Port Churchill. However was a very interesting time, never to be seen again no doubt. Cheers John Sabourn
